The people in the college forum are surprisingly small-minded. Not all, but the overall perspective feels small and tight, which I wouldn’t have expected. I always associate education with a kind of expansiveness and curiosity, but that is definitely not the vibe.
Politics is a dumpster fire and I’m convinced is filled with bots and trolls, probably paid foreign influencers too. Sure feels that way. |

I think the relationship forum gets really strange. If someone posts about a marital problem, people immediately say the OP should leave their spouse and then attack and shame them for debating or wanting to stay. And if they have dc ‘what kind of model are you being for your child!!
Same with some of parenting forums. 75% of the posters will jump on the OP and tell them everything is their fault and they are terrible parents. Politics. I haven’t noticed anything all that terrible there other than some MAGA snark. But I expect that these days. |

Do you think DCUM moderates fairly?
Sometimes I’m surprised by what gets deleted or locked, eg it seems fairly innocuous. I recall being really interested in this thread on traveling to India (I was thinking about a trip) and it was locked because someone was posting about safety for women travelers. Seemed like a fair discussion and I didn’t understand why it was locked. But other times it seems like there are really disruptive and aggressive posters who don’t seem to be restricted at all. I often wonder if some of the nasty posts are from the same poster as there are a few who seem to have a telling posting ‘style’, but who knows? |
