Just caught my kid reading Charlie Kirk

College is not for everyone.

I went to an Ivy and zero of my classmates are social workers. And none majored in "social studies" -- are you confusing the Ivys with a high school with vines on it?

Even if true, the Ivies have incredible financial aid, if they were full pay then their parents could have afforded the tuition but chose to saddle them with loans. I'm sure they'll be fine.

I read the WSJ print edition every day.

I've been listening Charlie Kirk and a bunch of conservatives trying to understand them, but they are all full of nonsense. I would love to find one with common sense. Please share some pearls that I may have missed.

And the ads. Wow, the ads are so terrible for obvious scam products.

Hahaha, OP would probably die and lock her child away in a room with no internet connection for life.

The most obvious thing about conservatism should be that you can wind back the clock and use older sources to understand what they're trying to conserve. In practice, this is not obvious. But a few recommendations are Peter Hitchens, Roger Scruton, Nicolas Davila, William F. Buckley, T.S. Eliot, and C.S. Lewis.

I have nothing to say about books, but that college girl that flashed him was smokin' hot.

News Flash:
A college degree isn’t what it used to be.

You’re an educated (I’m assuming) adult. This is an easy conversation to open with your son- you don’t even need the soliloquies on the power of education, though it is important.

Charlie Kirk and the conservative co are interested in the optics of pragmatism. Statistically, you will earn more if you go to college. It’s the pragmatic choice. Kirk also…went to college, a pretty damned good one, and he’s pretty damned successful for someone who got caught in a “scam.”

And frankly the more I listen to him, the more I do too.

Why? Do you think a Venezhaitian ate your neighbor's cat?

Because that's who Charlie Kirk is speaking to.

Honestly because he speaks to teens and young adults where they are. His “change my mind” sessions on college campuses around the country are wildly popular. He is bringing thousands of Gen z kids - boys and girls- to conservative ways of thinking.

No he’s preying on their fears and anxieties to make a buck.

I am a cradle Catholic who can't stand Charlie Kirk. I'm tired of this toxic reactionary white male grievance nonsense being directed at my teen sons. You're lucky that you caught it early. I know someone whose son is involved in Turning Point. It's a cult, really bad news.

What are his best arguments about college and what are the biggest flaws in his arguments about college?

PP again. I don’t know. I’ve never heard Kirk speak about this topic. I just like his conservative, religious, pro- American stance.

Then who needs college. Because not getting a college education is conservative, religious and pro-american? Okay sure. That makes so much sense.

I have read Lewis and Buckley, and no that is nothing like Kirk or Shapiro are advocating.

I mean you moving the goals posts, like MAGA who said they don’t believe Trump will do what he says, but instead what they want.

Conservative ideology is basically the following:
Say something morally gray/abhorrent, introduce some dogwhistle, claim the left is racist and some other ist for “obsessing over race,” and then claim your just speaking common sense and those who disagree are radical leftists.

I’ve been watching conservative content for a decade now, and so few don’t pull this shtick, it gets so tired. No you aren’t the party of “common sense.”

What's wrong with being a social worker? Your cousin choosing an expensive college and a low paying career does not logically lead to a conclusion that college isn't for everyone.

At least you recognize the left only cares about race.
