Yes. Those of us who read the first post know this.
Some of us think that Trump’s plan to use this occasion to celebrate himself is both unfortunate and expensive.

So what is the “plan”?

Here are 2 versions of the plans. A quick search will have several more.

The 250th birthday of the US Army seems like a big deal to a lot of people and many are glad it is being appropriately recognized. There are actually almost 3 weeks of events with the parade being just one event.

It IS a big deal. Too bad that Trump is co-opting the Army’s planned celebrations to do something very different centering himself.

I mean, the guy canceled his own inauguration parade. Who does that? Seems like this is legitimately more about celebrating the Army.

You mean the one he “canceled” because it was too cold for him outside— so he could stay inside where it was warm — instead of mingling with his people? That one? To answer your “Who does that?” question, someone who cares more about his own comfort than that of the supporters waiting outside in the cold.

But where are the birthday party part of the plans? Are you worried there will be a giant cake float or something?

Narrators voice: The Presidential parade box is heated…

Are we getting that Friday off from work? Given that mass streets will be blocked off ?

The parade itself is the birthday part of the plans. The original plans by the Army for their celebrations were to be held on the Mall — not parading tanks through the streets. I’m worried about DC taxpayers getting stuck with paying for his little celebration, and I’m sickened by a president who prioritizes using tax dollars to celebrate his ego while programs like Head Start and Meals on Wheels are getting cut. As far as I’m concerned, he’s welcome to all the giant cake floats he wants. Heck, throw in his very own ice cream truck.

We'll probably be forced to attend, else there will be almost no one there.

Maybe even a tornado?

Actually, the downtown businesses won’t be able to access anything because the streets will be closed. If you’re not in hospitality you’re screwed.

This is not how this event should be “appropriately” recognized. We do not do this kind of bs in the USA because we aren’t the freaking Soviet Union or North Korea, got it, treason weasel?
