Can we do anything to cancel this? Call my local congressman or representative?

If you are outside of DC, sure. Those of us who live here have no such options.

I can’t wait to see Donnie in his birthday hat making vroom vroom noises as the vehicles go by.

Wouldn’t this be a boon to the DC economy? It’s a shoulder season weekend before most schools close and the July 4th holiday. Seems like thousands of extra hotel room sales and full restaurants would eclipse the costs. What am I missing?

House GOP has destroyed DC's current FY budget.

DC does not have the money to clean up after Toddler Trump's Facist Dictator Parade. MPD will get paid to cover it, I'm sure, at the expense of other things in DC

I guess. But all the more reason we need extra revenue. So with a 15% hotel tax, 10% meals tax, 18% parking garage tax, and thousands of extra riders on Metro this seems like a great opportunity to fill the city during a low tourism month. Plus, with the Nats in town that has to mean a few thousand additional ticket sales. Seems like a financial win, no?

You are missing the waste of our government spending $45 million on this. You’re missing the fact that America doesn’t do dear leader military parades. You are missing the road damage that DC will have to repair after it.

Can’t make up for the GOP’s willful destruction of the local economy.

Who do you think is actually coming to this display of waste and abuse?

Probably a combo of Trump supporters and military enthusiasts. Every air show I’ve been to has been sold out, so there definitely a huge market out there. Could be big numbers on a normally slowish weekend.

OMG this is so dictator-y to have a parade for one's birthday in the first place

What are you doing from your church? Why is it always someone else?

The 250th birthday of the US Army seems like a big deal to a lot of people and many are glad it is being appropriately recognized. There are actually almost 3 weeks of events with the parade being just one event.

It IS a big deal. Too bad that Trump is co-opting the Army’s planned celebrations to do something very different centering himself.

Nah. This admin love ti spend $$$$$. This looks like it’s just DC’s costs, not the federal government. Trump has stiffed many cities from having rallies there, which you can google if you’d like.
