I Just Love Frieda McFadden!

In a sea of crappy books so much trash has been published the last few years Frieda McFadden books are relaxing and a good read compared to any other newer crap published. I don't know what happened to the publishing world but Good God it's dead.

One of them seemed like a direct copy of B. A. Paris “Behind Closed Doors” which was published in 2016!

I'd be curious what other authors people love or hate. I've tried 2 Frieda McFadden books and I can't stand them (I tried the second one thinking it might be better than the first, I was wrong). I also can't stand Colleen Hoover. I tried two of her books as well and hated them both. Ruth Ware and Lisa Foley are fine but I don't love them and generally only pick them when there isn't anything else available. I do love mysteries though! Stephen King is probably my favorite author as in I'll read everything of his and almost always love it. He's not the "best" author I've ever read from a prose perspective but I think he's a great author in that his books are very engaging and well done. I also like Michael Connelly and Jonathan Kellerman, which I don't consider to be particularly "good" authors but their books are good, if that makes sense. I don't find myself rolling my eyes a thousand times at stupid dialogue like I did with Frieda McFadden and Colleen Hoover.

Another author of psychological thrillers people seem to love or hate ( from what I’ve seen) is Karin Slaughter, especially her book Pretty Girls. Some say this is the best book they’ve ever read, others call it txrtxre pxrn, still others say it’s completely boring and couldn’t finish “because nothing happens”

^^Forgot to add an author I used to love was Ruth Rendell who also wrote under the pen name Barbara Vine.

One I remember is A Dark Adapted Eye. You might enjoy this author if you like Ruth Ware ( of course they might seem dated by now; I haven’t read them recently)

I love her, but her books get repetitive.

I can't stand Frieda McFadden, but I continually listen to her on audio books anyway. They are so predictable, but I like to listen while I work/clean. It's like a Lifetime movie. It's background noise, you know what's coming, but you still watch anyway.

I am hoping to see a new release from this author soon, hopefully by October?

I just finished The Housemaid's Secret (the second book in the series) audiobook in a couple days. It's entertaining and fast paced, keeping my interest even when I think some parts are ridiculous, unlike some books that I just can't finish. This one has a lot of repetition in Millie's part; she keeps saying the same things over and over. That was probably my biggest complaint. Otherwise I enjoyed it.

I’ve read two books by Lisa Jewell and liked both of them: None of This is True and The Night She Disappeared. I haven’t read anything by Shari Lapena yet.

I always see a ton of her novels in bookstores or in the Target/Walmart book sections.

I may be wrong but I think her novels have also been included in Reese’s Book Club.

I like Millie’s character even though she can be repetitive like you mentioned…..

I think it is part of her appeal however.
