I Just Love Frieda McFadden!

I've read all of her books and there is a sameness to many of them.

Yes there are definitely many parallels in her writing plus one doesn’t have to have a high reading level to comprehend her novels.

But her books deliver perfect when it comes to surprise twists.

Her The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie is a fun satire of her books, kind of a takeoff on all her tropes.

For middle schoolers.

They are awful. The people who say they have "twists" literally do not have basic reading comprehension.

Cool, you don't have to read them. No need to insult other readers. If you want to be mean go to another forum.

Housemaid was so far fetched and written like a student in a college English class came up with it.

I just finished it, my first of hers, and double-checked because I felt like I was reading young adult. She'd sometimes repeat the same fact twice on the same page. At another point, she actually adds the clause, "as I previously mentioned"...only about 2 paragraphs above.

Other than that, the storyline is okay, but yeah, it's like written by a college student who has only read young adult books.

I saw a huge selection of her novels at Target so I bought a few.
And was pleasantly surprised, not a disappointment at all.

All the books were so fun to read.
The suspense was off the hook good and she certainly delivered the suspense.
And all of her endings are so awesome, not predictable at all >> I love all the surprise twists in her stories!

Her books are written simply but she is no idiot.

I don’t know if people actually know this about her but she actually is a physician irl.

I like her stuff, I admit.
Yes her writings are very easy to read yet her tales do definitely deliver with full on suspense/thrills, twists and shocking endings that I would never have predicted.

She is a super easy read. A long as you are not expecting any real thought to all the fake twists. It seems like she has a min page limit she is trying to reach to churn out a novel. Too much redundant overexplaining. You also can't have a twist at the end of a book if you have never really developed a plot. They are at best young adult. Although my 7th grader read two and thought they were awful. We will not be supporting this type of work.

I'm an oral surgeon but I would never ever think I'm capable of writing for profit. It's a different part of your brain. Being smart does not ever make you automatically creative. Obviously.

Still I found some of them to be just okay, and one to be a complete flop.

Four Stars
Housemaid
Housemaid's Secret
The Teacher
The Wife Upstairs

Three Stars
Never Lie
The Boyfriend
One by One

Two Stars
The Inmate

Other similar quick read authors:
Colleen Hoover - Verity is similar to the Wife Upstairs (but not the other romance ones)
Rachel Hawkins - also has A Wife Upstairs
B.A. Paris - UK author - The Breakdown and Behind Closed Doors are two to start with
Jeneva Rose
Kiersten Modglin - The Arrangement trilogy is good

BA Paris is a true novelist. Amazing thought provoking books. Not YA like Frieda.

Don't break your back with this kind of service to humanity. I'm sure the stick up your ass really helps the cause.

She's easy to read, you don't have to think so much but reading is supposed to be easy and enjoyable and her books are enjoyable.
