I think people either love or hate her books. I am on a Psychological Thriller FB page and she gets multiple rave reviews. I read a couple of the Housemaid series and thought they were entertaining but that’s about it. One of them seemed like a direct copy of B. A. Paris “Behind Closed Doors” which was published in 2016!
I'd be curious what other authors people love or hate. I've tried 2 Frieda McFadden books and I can't stand them (I tried the second one thinking it might be better than the first, I was wrong). I also can't stand Colleen Hoover. I tried two of her books as well and hated them both. Ruth Ware and Lisa Foley are fine but I don't love them and generally only pick them when there isn't anything else available. I do love mysteries though! Stephen King is probably my favorite author as in I'll read everything of his and almost always love it. He's not the "best" author I've ever read from a prose perspective but I think he's a great author in that his books are very engaging and well done. I also like Michael Connelly and Jonathan Kellerman, which I don't consider to be particularly "good" authors but their books are good, if that makes sense. I don't find myself rolling my eyes a thousand times at stupid dialogue like I did with Frieda McFadden and Colleen Hoover.
Another author of psychological thrillers people seem to love or hate ( from what I’ve seen) is Karin Slaughter, especially her book Pretty Girls. Some say this is the best book they’ve ever read, others call it txrtxre pxrn, still others say it’s completely boring and couldn’t finish “because nothing happens”
Do you like Lisa Jewall? Or how about Shari Lapena??
I’ve read two books by Lisa Jewell and liked both of them: None of This is True and The Night She Disappeared. I haven’t read anything by Shari Lapena yet.
I Found You - Lisa Jewell is another good one
Thank you!
