| 15:58, it's mcps inability to let go of an image of its school district that faded in Y2K. |
You and 15:58 need to read the room. |

I don't want metal detectors in schools. They aren't helpful and don't stop weapons (kids go in and out many doors all day, not just the front and rear entrances, and, let others in through those doors as well), ghost guns are made of plastic which won't be detected.
Metal detectors are for optics plain and simple. Money wasted that could be spent on far better things for our students. Like more teachers. Facilities that aren't falling apart. Facilities that aren't over crowded. SROs. More social workers or therapists or counselors. Or all of the above, but my vote is a resounding NO to metal detectors |
No, it's your mom |
I am a Winston Churchill Mom. We get texts occasionally about bomb threats and stuff that have been checked out and cleared as nothing. We aren’t getting texts or seeing APB’s on the news about guns and weapons inside the school and real threats of physical violence. |
| What about students wearing earrings. Does the detector go off of you keep earrings on? |
| 13:29, what about Chromebooks or a machine to do their work that probably every single student carries for school? Do those go off when a student walks through a machine? How long is it going to take at security checkppint every morning? High schools start too early. |
They don't start to early. Other school systems have it figured out, copy them. |

Here is Chief Jones talking about metal detectors in district this school year! Where are they, Jones et at?

| Did mention of detectors come up at the meeting? |
Prior to meeting in any interview with a local channel, Council member Friedson said all options are on the table. |
| ^ and what about funding for detectors? Feasible for this school year? |
They had the audacity to bring up Foundations? Not all school have a worthy of mention Foundations. What schools will get detection systems and which ones will not? MCPS needs to get its act together. Rich families are leaving county and will continue to leave county. then what are you going to do, County? |
No. It is not feasible for this upcoming school year. Unless you have a spare $100 million sitting around. And even then, you'd have to generate the community consensus for its implementation, which does not exist currently. |
