Has Yellowjackets gotten to weird to be good?

It was so much more dimensional season 1. So much now seems for shock value, with lots of erratic character development. The occasional good zinger but otherwise meh.

Agreed. I also suspect the writers (not having a long term plan or vision) read and incorporated fan theories. I suppose that can sometimes work - fans are clever and Easter eggs are fun. But it doesn’t work here.

Season three must have different writers or something, because it's not as spectacular as Season 2 was.

Season 2 was Scorcesse level, with the music pairing to scenes.

Maybe they will get on track with Season 4.

There is 25 years between the flashbacks and the present that could be filled in. They hinted in one episode "someone knew what we did out there in the wilderness, and after we got back....." so perhaps that will be next.

She was always there, just mostly a nonspeaking role. Watch for the backwards cap. Now she's just being used to spice up the lesbian aspect and a potential fallout with Shauna who is the most dangerous of the girls.

The younger Shauna is so feral. Weird to see her as a "tame" middle-aged mom.

The storyline is just so absurd. She leaves Taissa and Van at the emergency room with Misty to continue driving to Richmond?? Seriously? And we're supposed to believe that somehow, the child of this Hannah character found the tape and located Shauna?

GOD, let them be discovered soon. I can't hate watch much longer.

The 90s story line moved along pretty good this week. The present day scenes were kind of a dud, other than the Mel reveal. Shauna gets worse by the week.

So ridiculous. I couldn't understand why teen Shauna wanted to stay behind when the others were heading out. Regardless, she has totally lost it.

Has everyone else abandoned this show? Smarter than me probably, unlikable characters with plot twists that go nowhere. I'm still Team Misty though.

Because she feels that she has no life if she goes home - and here people listen to her, fear her, and do what she says, and she feels like she has purpose.

She killed and ate her best friend here in the wilderness - she helped her team survive. At home, she imagines herself a checkout clerk at the grocery store.

She's scared. The others are scared in the woods. She's scared to leave.

I still love it even if I have to admit it seems to be kind of a shaggy dog at this point. My spouse is ready to bail.

I. Case this wasn’t discussed, I saw a video where Juliette Lewis was on stage with other yellowjackets staff/actors, stated that she had been mislead about her characters arc in the show (apparently she is an addict and didn’t know that she would be playing an addict in the show, and asked to be written out), and then walked off the stage. https://x.com/lordesbbqribs/status/1908717637430923604?s=46

DP. Impressed that your spouse is actually watching! Mine leaves the room out of disgust at how stupid this show is. I have to agree… yet still I watch.

I absolutely can’t stand young Shauna and don’t understand why everyone does what she tells them. They could overpower her and tie her up. She’s truly awful.

Adult Shauna is not much better at this point.

Why did Melissa kill Van?? She (Melissa) has a daughter and wife to think about and now she’s a murderer on the run.

I really can’t wait for them to be rescued and for this show to END.

She always was. The character was beloved by fat jealous Gen Xers especially because she got to consume Jackie completely after betraying her and still somehow remaining a sacrosanct victim. That is real living the dream territory for her type. She’d have had a similar trajectory had the plane not crashed and she made it to Brown, but the Jackie would have been a richer girl who was better at comp lit theses.

What a psychotic post.

What on earth did I just read?

+2 that was so weird.

Shauna (teen and adult) does suck, however.

Adult Shauna is terrible and wonderful in equal measure. She is a testament to how good and charismatic Melanie Lynskey is as as a performer!

DP. I don't think Melanie Lynskey is good in this role at all. She's so obviously acting.

I felt the same way about her storyline in The Last of Us. She could not disappear into the role at all.

Not great in Good Girls either.

Except for the baby voice I like her in YJ. Thought TLOU was a terrible performance.
