The contract, signed in November, was meant to provide high-speed internet access through Starlink's satellite service to 15,000 eligible homes and businesses in rural, remote and northern communities by June of this year.

Ford said Ontario will ban American companies from provincial contracts until U.S. tariffs are removed.

"Ontario won't do business with people hellbent on destroying our economy," he said in the statement."

That's roughly $7,000/home. The contract shouldn't have been awarded in the first place.

Per home or business.

But yes, this deal was a Muskian scam from the start.

Most of the funding was for "capacity reservation", because the starlink network that was sold does not actually exist. Ontario was paying for limited amount of internet access that was already sold to other people.

Well, to you I offer much of the province of Alberta (who might actually want to be a state), Mr. polivere, and maybe examples like former MPP and mayor Patrick Brown. For Brown, his Wikipedia page quite nicely outlines the sexual allegations against him. But of course, he was an MPP in a different area than he is now mayor so people aren’t worried. So… president, member of provincial parliament. Samesies!

I think the PP’s point was that Canadian politics is shifted to the left. Also the 3 main parties aren’t as radically different as Dems versus Republicans. It’s not US versus Them.

There will always be bad eggs.

About Alberta, their premier decided not to add an export tax to oil and gas to the US, while Ontario intends to add 25% export tax to electricity. A

You know that contract was the lowest bid and if not someone did a sole source which is just as bad.

Joke's on Ford. Elon will find a federal judge to rule that Ford must pay.
