How to minimize the effects of divorce on a child ?

OP, if not trolling, you should post in special concerns forum that ex and his new wife seem to be prepping for a custody battle.

Also put your jurisdiction in case people can suggest good lawyers.

Some judges will favor a 2 parent home. It is not a given that the status quo will hold.

Not sure if you are in denial or if this is not real.

He does not feel the same way about you but do keep saying that. Regardless of what you do, say or believe, they may make a claim of parental alienation. The goal may be primary custody with you paying cs.

Are their families from here? Or may they be planning a move?

Based on their actions and “secrets” they are clearly planning something so you need to be strategic to try to block changes to the 50/50. A lot can depend on the judge.
