Now, as an adult, I find that kind of gross--some people don't wash their coats frequently enough, coats will brush against other gross things (like the walls of a subway car, etc.) I don't want that on my bed!

You could buy something like this

and some hangers. You might even know someone who has one and will let you borrow it for your event.

Oh my gosh! I'm a grandmother and have never before thought about what you said. Have been putting guests' coats on our bed for years. Will definitely need to come up with another plan!

Girl, you’re a grandmother and have been doing this your while adult life with no harm and now you have to change because of an alarmist rando on DCUM? 😂

We have a coat rack on wheels that it easy to take apart. If you don’t have a place for something like downstairs, just put it at the top of the stairs and leave all the bedroom doors closed.

I agree, gross to put them on bed. OP

So neurotic. I would never overthink like this. Big deal. Put them on the bed. No one will catch a disease.

FFS. If you're that concerned about your bed being sullied, put a bedspread on it and launder the spread after your guests leave.

Some of you people are ridiculously precious.

Is there an area of your house, on the same floor as the party, that you don't want guests wondering to? For parties, we set two standing coat racks in our hall. It keeps people from wondering down to the bedrooms.

Omg! This reminds me when my parents had parties at our home. My sister and I would be in charge of their jackets. We ended up just laying them on our beds. 😜...

Anonymous wrote:Your solution is what people have done for ages. They go on a bed in the most easily accessible bedroom. Close all the other bedroom doors.

As much as you’d like to control this, someone will go upstairs without you knowing and get their own coat.

I didn't think that. Will have all upstairs bedroom doors closed and have the coats on the stairway. Thanks

On the stairway, I.e. the floor?

Yes. Have to keep those nasty coat germs out of the bedroom. We spray them all down with Lysol too. Can’t be too careful
