| Kids needing a pull-up at night is such a common thing that I’m very surprised anyone thinks it’s controversial. |
| At nine after I bought an alarm and slept in her room for a couple nights to make sure she got up. |
|
It runs in both of our families, especially on husband's side. He says he was 13!
3 of my 4 were later bed wetters. I would say 8, 9, and 11. They didn't stop gradually either, just pretty much stopped and then had one or two accidents on very late night kind of thing. My husband talked me out of trying the alarm. He said it was traumatizing for him and didn't help at all... mostly it was traumatizing because it woke up the whole family but him so everyone was mad at him. Anyway, we didn't stress about and it did magically stop.

| you should buy a bedwetting alarm. worked for my 8 year old. |
op here wuch one would you recommend? |
I tried one here with DS7 for close to 6 months. He slept right through it 95% of the time. I wouldn't recommend it when they are in school. They lose sleep and it can make for long mornings. I was the one waking him up as he didn't hear the alarm at all and I practically had to carry him to the bathroom. |
I don’t remember this happening 40 years ago. Is this a new development, kids not being potty trained at night? I’m really asking and not trying to be rude. |
It's not a new thing at all, It's just that no one ever talked about it back then because it was highly stigmatized. |
| What is your bedtime routine like? If he puts on his pull-up a while before going to sleep make certain he still tries to go to the bathroom again before actually going to sleep. |
| Op here he's supposed to go to the bathroom before he goes to sleep . He might not all the time but he wants to be done with this so I'm pretty sure he goes most nights. |
Thanks! I had no idea! |
When it’s this cold outside nobody wants to get out of a warm bed to go to the bathroom. Is he good about changing as soon as he wakes up in the morning? |
He usually changes as soon as he wakes up on school days weekends he might leave it on for a little bit bur still not to long . |
It tends to be hereditary. My sister potty trained young (day and night) but I wet the bed to 7 or 8 and remember my mom getting pretty frustrated. My children were dry at night at the same time - my younger one potty trained late (around her 4th bday) but was dry at night. My older one potty trained at 3 but wasn’t dry at night until 8.5 years. I literally went from buying diapers for both of them one grocery run to not buying diapers for either of them the next time. It was a very sudden transition! |
| Oldest wore a pull up to bed through kindergarten and ped said up to 7 is normal. |
