Am I a stalker?

As long as you aren't actually predatory and going after the guy or parking outside his house or work or planning on how to murder his wife, what's the harm? I have drawn the line for myself at actually paying for info like a PI would on the internet but if it's out there and it's free and easy to get, why not?

Take up genealogy and put your skills to good use.

That person needs a mental health assessment.

It's obsessive and has a life of its own.

BTDT. But since this is a person who could find out you have go stop because you will have bad consequences if anyone does find out.
Best wishes go you.. really.

OMG it's not "limerance" or whatever made up pathology the kids are yapping about this month. It's someone being batshit crazy. No, not even mentally ill. Just bored, silly, Internet addicted, socially awkward and weird AF.

If you have to ask, then you know it’s a problem. Read “To Have and to Harm: Stalkers and Their Victims” by Linden Gross and then ask yourself if you want to go down this path.

Also, you should see a therapist.

I think most of this board is too young to get it.

He told me his son made JV basketball and what school he played at, so I watched a game online.

My coworker gave a talk, which was later posted on YouTube. He told me about it, so I watched it and made a screenshot of him and saved it to my phone.

I looked up what his wife does. She’s also a physician, but at a different hospital.

Nothing is illegal. Everything is out there for anyone to see. He shares info with me, then I find a little more. Am I a stalker?

The game watching is weird for sure.

The drive by is kinda weird. That is what google street view is for.

The other 2 are meh.

You are a mild to medium stalker.

I think the better question is "why?"
And how would you feel if you knew someone was looking up all this information about you? It would make me sick.

Anonymous wrote:Legally, no. Colloquially, yes. You’re crossing boundaries and behaving obsessively and intrusively. His wife and kid? That is WAY over any acceptable line. You need to stop. It wouldn’t be the worst idea to get therapy and figure out what is missing/wrong in your life that you feel the need to behave this way. There’s a healthy way to work on whatever that is.

She’s Alex from Fatal Attraction!!!

Christ! Scary!

Seriously. I hope he doesn’t have a pet rabbit!

Sounds like a teen crush. Some of you are being awfully harsh.

You are a weirdo. And yes, a stalker who seems to get off about it on an almost-defunct anonymous website.

Driving by the house, keeping a screen shot and watching the kids game are not normal.
Anonymous
Yes you are a stalker, and it’s completely crazy to me that some people are suggesting that this is borderline ok.

A weirdo. Why would you watch the kids game??

I do think people are overreacting the the internet searches. I think that's super common. I definitely did stuff like that in my 20s when I had a crush on someone, especially someone unavailable. I personally think it's harmless as long as it's just Googling and looking at public info. If OP were trying to get access to private social media or running background searches or something, that would be different.

I've also found that this kind of online searching can actually dispel a crush. I've lost interest in people after looking at their social media or discovering what their family background is.

Some of the other stuff OP is doing is creepy (driving to his house is super weird).I suspect OP knows this but because it started with something harmless she's asking for a guy check. Well, that's the line. Basic Google searching is fine but when you are looking up his address and driving to his house, you've got to stop.
