I do think people are overreacting the the internet searches. I think that's super common. I definitely did stuff like that in my 20s when I had a crush on someone, especially someone unavailable. I personally think it's harmless as long as it's just Googling and looking at public info. If OP were trying to get access to private social media or running background searches or something, that would be different.

I've also found that this kind of online searching can actually dispel a crush. I've lost interest in people after looking at their social media or discovering what their family background is.

Some of the other stuff OP is doing is creepy (driving to his house is super weird).I suspect OP knows this but because it started with something harmless she's asking for a guy check. Well, that's the line. Basic Google searching is fine but when you are looking up his address and driving to his house, you've got to stop.[/quote]
