Let them reap what they sow

My most rabid Trump voting neighbor has a permanently disabled adult son who lives with them who has been on medicaid and SSDI his entire life.

But I so wish for it all to work out just as we know it will. Let them lose their healthcare and social security and welfare. Let them all get deported, every single one of them. Let our stocks go up while they wallow in their paycheck to paycheck. Let their families go hungry and sick. Let Musk cut the government in half, all of it. Let their women bleed out in hospitals.

We will be fine but I cannot wait, cannot I tell you, for them to reap what they sow.

I feel somewhat the same. I’m sick over this but ultimately it’s not going to affect my life. It’ll mostly hurt the people who voted for him.

This is exactly what I said to DH this morning when he told me the results…it’s unfortunate, but our day to day lives won’t really be impacted in any way we can’t deal with. It’s people like my mom, dependent on Social Security, barely able to afford her groceries and health care costs right now, that I’m worried about (and I’m fairly certain she voted for Trump).

That so many voted against their self interest is what's scary to me. People are picking on Arab voters because it's such an obvious test case of voting for someone who has no problem with the obliteration of Palestine and has famously promoted the worst kind of Islamaphobia. Elderly folks are another obvious case, given the dire implications for their social welfare net in a Trump administration.

In the last case, that's what consuming populist rhetoric and only getting your news from Fox News and your church accomplishes.

I agree. This will not affect me and my family in fact the tax breaks will be good for us but let the working class (both whites and minorities) suffer and let them pay a price for their foolishness.

You and your family will be affected regardless. Your quality of life is going to deteriorate on many levels. Same for most of us.

I'm not the OP but let's be perfectly honest here: Anyone who voted for Trump, or who abstained from voting, does not have ANYONE to blame for anything to go wrong in the next 4 years but themselves. If their wages don't go up, if their grocery and heathcare costs don't come down, if their rents don't come down, if they still can't afford to buy a house, that's THEIR OWN FAULT.

There's no escaping that.

He won the popular vote. Finger pointing and stupid, smug, blinkered arrogance are your fatal character flaws.

To add: Democratic strategists CURRENTLY ON MSNBC collectively AGREE that the economic messaging to poorer traditional Democratic voters was poor. But hey you know better right!? Right!

I've said it for years. I support Democrats and most of the Democrat agenda, but they totally SUCK at messaging.

I have noticed that those who rely most heavily on entitlements are often the ones most inclined to rail again "SOCIALISM"!

If he does deport a lot of people, wouldn't that affect the economy somewhat positively? I'm not sure exactly how. Hopefully some people in America would get off the drugs and get back to work. At least they can say their man won.

I've been saying this for years. If workers don't believe the Democratic Party is the one looking out for their interests, that is a serious messaging problem!

"You're mean, arrogant and smug for wanting to hold me accountable for the consequences of my choices"

Gee, your complaints about being held accountable make it sound like you're already having buyer's remorse for voting Trump.

Won’t it be great? Cut social security agency and any of the feds processing SSDI, cut social services and whatever they send over, lower Medicaid, and let them enjoy liberal tears in return.

This right here…they are going to wipe Gaza off the planet then Kushner is going to build resorts on their bones. Of all the things people are predicting might happen, this one is 100% going to happen because there is a direct financial benefit to them.

I won’t bother reporting them but I hope Jeff Steele chooses to delete the wave of posts choosing to blame Muslims here for Harris losing. There is not much to suggest this caused it. But you need a community with relatively little power to blame, which so exemplifies Democratic powers that be these days.

How is this blaming? The plan is to wipe out Gaza and Kushner/Trump will benefit. I hope the Muslims who voted for him will be surprised when this comes to pass because to think they did this on purpose is pretty sick.

Any pro-Gaza Muslim who voted for Trump is now responsible for the death of every Gazan at the hands of Israel for the next 4 years. That's not blaming, that's just stating a straight-up fact.

Nah. It doesn’t make any difference at all. The president is powerless on that front regardless who they are.

Weird, since somehow we were told Biden and Harris had the power and an endless bunch of posts were fingerwagging, scolding and lecturing us about that. But now suddenly Trump doesn't?

Yet another flaky double standard where Dems are held to lofty impossible ideals but absolutely nothing matters for Republicans.

Yet another reason why I can't stand Republican strategy.

Except for women. This is tragic for all women and girls (and men who actually care about them), regardless of their economic position or political persuasion.

Well then the women (and men who actually care about them) in red state should have voted in their own self interest. Women in blue states will be fine and wealthy women everywhere will be fine.

You understand that federal legislation affects everyone, right? Even women in blue states?

Yup! If they make abortion illegal at the federal level, it will be hard for states to override that.

And the SC will be set with another 2 younger justices (Alito and Thomas will retire). So 30-40+ years with a majority with 5 justices appointed by trump. And possibly more if Kagan and sotomayor have any health issues (but they won't leave under trump unless they die).

Our kids will be 65+ before they see a moderate SC again.

The tears will be MAGA tears.
The liberals will be saying "we told you so."
And then the MAGAs will just get mad at us once again for being right.

I see you’re keeping with the brilliant strategy of calling half the country trash.

Keep it up I’m sure it will win you guys the election in 2028

I call it like I see like your guy. Trash is trash.

+1

Hitler was trash. Yet he came to power and had lasting effects on the country and the world.

Fact that 51%+ of the country could not bring themselves to vote for a black woman over the convicted felon, rapist, facist wanna be is a sad state of affairs. This isn't Bush V Gore or Clinton v Bush, where you may not agree/like the other candidate yet the other candidate is overall a decent person. This is something very different

Well poor americans rely heavily on the government to help them survive. Look at how much federal money the red states take vs contribute. I am ready for Trump to burn it all down.

Poor people who vote blue also need that support. Why are you so excited to watch them suffer while you count your money?
