DUI and Death on Harrison

Remind your kids not to ever get in a car with a driver who has been drinking. Uber. Walk. Call your mommy.
4 people got into that car as passengers.

He killed someone on a public street. It is very much our business. By definition. This is not a private affair.

Whether or not a teenager is on suicide, watch (as was asked) is none of your business whether or not they committed a crime on a public street.

DP. He's an adult. It's 100000% ok to speculate about adults that kill other people (and endangered many others) due to their selfish, reckless choices.

I'm so effing tired of people suggesting empathy for drunk drivers.

You have no idea what led to him being behind the wheel that night.

Normal people don’t get off on persecuting people without any facts.

A gun was pointed to his head? Please, do share your facts.

Yup. And wear your freaking seatbelt.

So many bad decisions that night.

Have you been drinking?
A lot?
Do you know how many drinks?
Where are your car keys?
Put them back in your pocket and call Uber, Mommy or walk.
Do not cram your car full of people and drive.

There was a teen dui tragedy two years ago not very far away. I think perhaps, yes. People were very unhappy with the outcome of that case.

I was very unhappy with that result and thought that kid should not have gotten off with a slap on the wrist. He got zero jail time. I think we are now at the other end of the spectrum with this case. We don't know the details of this case yet, but the other case was very egregious. I just read that Nick wanted to wear #22 jersey in honor of his friend Braylon who was killed in that crash and wore #22 in basketball. Just awful for the W&L kids.

What do you mean? Nothing has happened yet with the case.

The point is we have no facts.

And some people are all ready to lynch the kid.

and don't be the friends who not only let their friend drive drunk but willingly get into the car.

So many bad decisions.

I can’t believe it’s not locked already.

This thread is disgusting.

How so? It was a tragic event in the Arlington community, and it’s certainly newsworthy.

Speaking of news, does anyone know what happened at the bond hearing yesterday?

There are seriously people think think drunk driving is "MYOB" issue. It's unbelievable. Someone is dead because of this selfish MFer.

You have no idea what happened. The driver may have stopped an even drunker kid from driving.

Leave these families alone.

This is an incredibly dumb response.

Again, you have no idea what happened.

DP.

So you're saying Brooks Bare (name publicly released by police) didn't drive drunk? Did he have a medical emergency? What else caused a passenger to be ejected from the vehicle he was operating?

I don’t know. I’m waiting on actual facts.

I can't really tell what you're going for here. So you're saying it's not facts that he was driving the car, refused a breathlyzer at the site, the police say alcohol was a factor in the crash, and a person is dead.

The young man who passed away was his parents' only child. So very, very sad.

Yes- basically the same age as this case--only a few months separation in age.

So turning 18 actually has legal consequences? Who knew?

Everyone.

Exactly. I don’t get why people were so upset that they treated the minor…as a minor.

That’s how it works.

The only way you believe there are no facts is if you think Arlington police framed the kid. Is that what you're suggesting?

I’m suggesting that you let the police and justice system do their work before you start publicly persecuting this kid and his family.

Go find some other way to get off.

It was more than 4. I know of at least one passenger who was dropped off just before they crashed. Every single person who got in that car that night made a horrible decision, not just the driver.

Even if driver was not drinking at all, it's still involuntary manslaughter. That's not going away.
