DUI and Death on Harrison

Do you think the judges are keeping him in jail to teach him a lesson and give him some jail time in case he end up not getting jail time at his trial?

He killed someone on a public street. It is very much our business. By definition. This is not a private affair.

Whether or not a teenager is on suicide, watch (as was asked) is none of your business whether or not they committed a crime on a public street.

DP. He's an adult. It's 100000% ok to speculate about adults that kill other people (and endangered many others) due to their selfish, reckless choices.

I'm so effing tired of people suggesting empathy for drunk drivers.

The judge isn't living under a rock and knows this is high profile and people are paying attention. I would think they are taking pains to treat him how anyone in this situation gets treated and following typical precedent.

There was a teen dui tragedy two years ago not very far away. I think perhaps, yes. People were very unhappy with the outcome of that case.

The difference is they tried the other teen as a minor and that kid only ended up on house arrest. People are still effing pissed about that. That being said, I don’t think that is influencing what is going on here.

The young man who passed away was his parents' only child. So very, very sad.

Yes- basically the same age as this case--only a few months separation in age.

I can’t believe it’s not locked already.

This thread is disgusting.

How so? It was a tragic event in the Arlington community, and it’s certainly newsworthy.

Speaking of news, does anyone know what happened at the bond hearing yesterday?

There are seriously people think think drunk driving is "MYOB" issue. It's unbelievable. Someone is dead because of this selfish MFer.

You have no idea what happened. The driver may have stopped an even drunker kid from driving.

Leave these families alone.

This is an incredibly dumb response.

Again, you have no idea what happened.

DP.

So you're saying Brooks Bare (name publicly released by police) didn't drive drunk? Did he have a medical emergency? What else caused a passenger to be ejected from the vehicle he was operating?

I was very unhappy with that result and thought that kid should not have gotten off with a slap on the wrist. He got zero jail time. I think we are now at the other end of the spectrum with this case. We don't know the details of this case yet, but the other case was very egregious. I just read that Nick wanted to wear #22 jersey in honor of his friend Braylon who was killed in that crash and wore #22 in basketball. Just awful for the W&L kids.

Why not? Same CA and she's saying no bail in this case. Refused to try the other kid as an adult.

So turning 18 actually has legal consequences? Who knew?
