DUI and Death on Harrison

Someone shoots a loaded gun into an open public street and kills someone, it's ABSOLUTELY everyone's business.

And yes, that's exactly what driving drunk is, every single time someone drives drunk, whether they happen to kill someone or not.

We know someone died in a way that could have been prevented. I'm sure the kid's lawyers will mount a truly empathetic defense, but that other family will never have their child back.

I have a lot of compassion for all those involved. At the same time I am angry that a kid drove drunk himself and others, killed his friend, damaged private property, and could have done much worse. I am sick of driving around here wondering if there is a person driving under the influence and going to make someone a victim of their selfish and stupid behavior. This is why it’s everyone’s business.

Judges don't have to grant bond on serious offenses.

His lawyer will just keep escalating it to a higher court.

A higher court will probably grant it with provisions like he must wear an alcohol monitor/use a handheld breathalyzer several times a day or possibly be confined to house arrest. This is what happened to my multiple DUI sibling. Bond was denied by the magistrate and at his arraignment. His lawyer had to file a bond hearing and escalate it.

I have not dealt with Arlington GD Court but I know where I'm at, it's very rare for first time offenders to not eventually get bond. Those who do something severe like this are always required to get a secured bond, too. No PR bonds or unsecured bonds.

The texting is as bad. I’m nearly killed every drive to work, watching shocked head down speeding behind me as traffic is coming to a stop in my lane. The sheer number of adults texting and driving is enormous. They are swerving all over the roads.

What?!?! How f**ked up is your family if you’ve had to establish a standing-rule about when someone gets bailed out of jail? Are y’all getting locked up on the regular?

WTF? Do better.

My parents always told me if I got arrested they wouldn’t bail me out that night. One night in jail. However, he wasn’t given bail, so his parents don’t even have the option to bond him out.

I really haven't read much on this but I guess the people involved are white UMC. There are not threads on younkg people being killed in larger numbers every week in DC, perhaps by other teens "under the influcence." They get doxxed!

I know he’s not the main victim, but I feel awful for him and his family too.

This just in. DCUM posters are mostly UMC white people posting about things happening in their lives and communities.

Feel free to look up some DC crimes and start asking questions.

Yeah this is a normal conversation. Told my kids if they ever get arrested to call their cool aunt and uncle so they can keep them safe from me until I cool down.

He killed someone on a public street. It is very much our business. By definition. This is not a private affair.

Whether or not a teenager is on suicide, watch (as was asked) is none of your business whether or not they committed a crime on a public street.
