what's the next Davidson.

Davidson has always been a good school. It took people in the NE a while to realize that, but it's always been very in demand among southerners.

Davidson is very selective, not real lower tier .

Come on. It’s not even the next up and coming odac school.

Huh? Why?

RMC then HSC then Roanoke. Emory and Henry left ODAC when it went to D2 but would also put that above Roanoke.

Where is your data to back any of this up?

It hasn’t happened yet - just straight vibes.

Roanoke has no brand value and a big gender imbalance. Launching the football team is intended to help correct that.

“Vibes” isn’t remotely scientific and can’t be validated. In other words, your opinion.

Just like the other 30 colleges suggested as the next Davidson. Just like Roanoke College with an 80% acceptance rate is an opinion for that matter.

Why does the acceptance rate matter?

OP asked for the next Davidson. That means a selective LAC where her B student might slip in. It does not mean any old liberal arts college.

Very few men are at all interested in a men's only environment.

If I were a college, I'd also take a majority of my class ED if I knew I could get $80k out of them.

It’s not a criticism, most schools outside the T10 use ED heavily but it skews acceptance rates low. That’s why we have NE parents claiming their school is elite.

Elon is much preppier than Davidson. App State is crunchy like Davidson. Elon is more like U Richmond and W&L.

Davidson is very preppy.

People are comparing Davidson to W&M and W&M isn’t that pretty. Who’s wrong?

Davidson is not preppy the way people describe W&L. You will find some preppy students there, but the overall vibe is not preppy. If in your mind preppy = conservative, then it's even less so. Davidson definitely leans more left than right. Parent of a current student.

The kids I know that attend are pretty darn preppy. As in they went to fairly conservative private schools prior to Davidson, there must be a range.

I'm PP, and there's definitely a range! It's one of the things drew my DC to Davidson. I'm just sharing that according to my DC, and based on what I have observed during visits, preppy wouldn't be the general feel of the school.

If you’d consider mid-size university instead of LAC, SMU

Preppy =/= conservative, does it?
