what's the next Davidson.

+1. I had never heard of it until after college but with its in demand southern but not too southern NC location, facilities, upwards trend on stats of students choosing to attend, and still reasonable acceptance rate, it should definitely be in the conversation

Yeah, but that 35 looks good. As well as the upward trajectory in grades over the years.

I think Elon and Richmond are doable for someone looking for an easier admit to a Davidson-type school. I'd also look at High Point. Will definitely get in there.

Yikes! No to HPU. They’ve had accreditation issues. No comparison to the quality of education at a well-established school like Davidson. There are other much better and comparable suggestions in the thread.

This is an interesting thread to me. I am from a small Virginia town (but southern, not Nova), and when I was applying to colleges 30 years ago, the kids who applied to or went to Davidson were the wealthy, preppy, often popular kids who were close to the top of of the class. We thought of it almost like an Ivy. Well, not like an Ivy. We didn't really think about Ivies, if I'm being honest. It was on par with Duke. Washington and Lee and University of Richmond were a bit less prestigious than those two but attracted the same type kids.

I remember looking up the stats for all of those schools once when it was time for me to apply to schools and being shocked that they weren't that hard to get into. We definitely regarded them with much more prestige than their selectivity would suggest.

Obviously that was 30 years ago, but FWIW. We didn't see Elon as prestigious at all. Or High Point. Both have changed a lot in the last 3 decades.

I'm surprised Rhodes was only mentioned once. When we visited Rhodes two years ago, a couple of the tour guides were Davidson admits who chose Rhodes for the merit $. Davidson is meets needs only I believe. Friend's child, same but Emory admit. Rhodes' net price was 1/2 Emory's. All these kids pre-med, so price sensitive.

When I was applying, high school in SC, Davidson is where you went to be a dentist. Furman and Richmond would have been the safeties

Never heard of Davidson until Stephen Curry.

Can you give examples of your concerns about High Point’s quality of education?

Here's a profile of the president. I wouldn't want my kid there, but it's great for those that do

You said Davidson has better academics. What is inferior about High Point’s academic offerings?
