Instead of relying on anecdotal evidence, Michigan itself tells you that many, many, many more get in with SATs below 1350. Some 25% of all students have below a 1350. Only 52% of enrolled freshmen even submitted SAT scores.

I guess you can trust random strangers on the internet, or the university itself...

This. Kids in our class last year admitted ivies and top SLAC and denied Michigan and it will keep happening, the numbers are just through the roof.

Again, those 1300s are Michigan kids. Find me a DMV or NJ/NY kid without top top stats who gets into Michigan- it just doesn’t happen.

It is disingenuous to act like stats expectations are the same for in-state and OOS students.

I know a kid who got in TO last year from a DC-area public that has lots of very strong applicants.

Michigan doesn’t consider legacy now.

How’s your overall reading comprehension? I stated that my in-laws are very active alumni. Read into that.

Gotcha. Clearly, youre eager to share your story. So please tell us how much they’ve donated in the past three years (leading up to your DC’s application), and lifetime. Thanks.

Are your in-laws the Ross family? No? Then forget it. Everybody's involved at Michigan. Jesus you sound like an entitled ass.

You didn't actually state that. You first listed test scores, GPA, school applied to/mystery major, and then just "in-laws are very active alumni." So the applicant is married and has in-laws? Or are you listing your test scores and GPA from 40 years ago?

NP. I went to Michigan's B-School with a Regent's child and a child of a big donor who had sold a business to Warren Buffett. Spoiler Alert: they were well qualified. But no lottery effect was going to impact their chances among similarly qualified applicants.
