Why are many conservatives fixated on vaccine mandates?

I still don’t like everything on the conservative side (I do support abortions until viability outside the womb) but I really hate someone telling me I need to inject something into my body and my kids’ bodies after they say that I won’t need to and we have proof that it doesn’t stop you getting the virus and it doesn’t stop you passing it on. There were mandates for those of us who work for companies that do government projects. Everyone in our companies were required to get it, even if we weren’t working on those projects ourselves.

You always had the right to homeschool your kid or get a different job. There were not "vaccine mandates" imposed by the federal government.

The shot doesn't prevent Covid, never has, never will. What it does do is limit the risk of hospitaliztion and curtails spread. If you took away anything beyond that in the messaging you recived, that is on you.
