Bus driver playing Christian Music

I don't think anyone would get fired, unless they repeatedly played this music after school administration or transportation bosses told them not to. So far, that hasn't even happened, no need to catastrophize.

Retired and got a job driving a school bus in the suburbs. He loved the little kids, but those middle schoolers nearly did him in. And that was years ago, before the uptick in behavioral issues.

Just saying, if playing Christian music helps your kids’ bus driver get through his routes, count your blessings and cut him some slack.

So you can't be unbiased and see the view from a different POV? So gross.

I’m saying it’s a really hard job that doesn’t pay a lot. Life is imperfect. The idea that school kids can’t handle music that references a different religion than their own is absurd, and op’s school could lose a good driver if she complains.

I'm saying if you post "count your blessings" you are not unbiased and aren't giving an opinion in good faith.

If someone quits over asking them to change the radio station, well they dont sound very good or committed to the job anyways.

I don't understand why there isn't a rule about how loud the music can be. For safety as well

You're looking for a problem here. He is not trying to convert anyone, correct?

So I'll give you other problems to worry about at FCPS

Constant vaping in bathrooms
Kids roaming the halls
Fights
Racist grafitti in the bathrooms (2x since school started)
2 different "disturbances" at school (vaguely emailed about so who the hell knows what happened)

I could go on.

A bus driver listening to "I can only imagine" is not the problem I'd be trying to solve

NP here
This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Personally, you could't pay me enough to be a school bus driver. I'm deeply grateful for the people who do it.

Your neighbors will be thrilled when they find out the reason they don’t have a school bus driver is because someone complained about his Christian music.

This is a concern for us as we are not Christian. Considering FCPS is a public school district, is there anything we can do?

Driver may be under the assumption your kid and others like this radio station, and playing it loudly. If your child has feedback about the choice, they should communicate that to the driver. Who knows— the driver might also appreciate listening to other religious channels or other music or talk shows. It could be a great conversation starter!

This is a public school bus not a Christian school bus. He can listen to his Christian music on his down time when there are no kids loaded.

The school bus is an extension of the school house. Imagine if the principal decided to play Christian or Islamic or Jewish music over the speakers. It is unacceptable any way you look at it.

Again, this is not a Christian private school and the bus driver is an employee of the public school system.

Honestly, OP, who gives a sh!t? Tell your little spoiled snowflake to put on some headphones and deal with it. And don’t try to provide meaning in your life by creating drama for absolutely no reason.

Not the same. The bus driver’s job is to get the kids safely to school or home. The type of music they listen to has no effect on their ability to do that. They’re not there to educate your kids or represent an authoritative voice on anything besides bus safety. Request that they turn it down, sure, but the style of the music they like is irrelevant.

It's not appropriate, but honestly, I'd FAR rather hear about any of the major religions in song form rather than the usual misogynist, permissive and foul-mouthed crap.

If it's too loud, the driver should decrease the volume.
