Anyone heard from Pitt yet?

+1. I wish the process was as straightforward as Pitt for other colleges/universities. So MANY supplements.

Try Minnesota. It’s the same.

DC was accepted to Business program. Applied last week of August, decision came September 23. UW GPA 3.93 and SAT 1580 (one sitting). VERY EXCITED -DC is going to college!

She will be applying to their honors program as well. Hopeful for some merit aid.

Same for my kid in terms of the timeline and accepted for business. 1450 SAT.

Not top choice, though my kid really likes the city and would be quite happy if that’s the final choice. If only the school year ran March - November…does get cold and depressing during the winter.

Common data set says Pitt considered Demonstrated Interest as "Important". I was so surprised to see this for a public school. We just found out about Pitt and the most thing we can do is attend virtual sessions (we live out West). Is there anything else we can do?

Virtual sessions should be fine. My son only did webinars (regular admissions and Honors college). Parents are Pitt alums but legacy is not a factor. We took him to visit campus at Thanksgiving break when all offices were closed and he didn't mention that in any of his essays. We were able to schedule a tourist tour of the Cathedral of Learning Nationality Classrooms. He was admitted.

You could write the regional admissions officer and ask if they are visiting anywhere near you.

I enjoyed attending Pitt. Not many kids from anywhere considered the West. But there are a lot of international people and immigrant cultural influences in Pittsburgh. It's kind of a PA/NYC/Northern NJ vibe with a bit of DMV.

Does Pitt favor legacies? And if so, would a grandfather count? Grandfather’s career has been highlighted in the alumni magazine if that makes a difference.

^to be clear, it’s DC’s grandfather, my father.

DS applied 9/21 and just received acceptance today. We're not in the DC area though. It's a relief to have a solid acceptance- he just needs to complete his other applications and see what happens.

Wow that was really quick. Congrats!! What school and stats, if you wouldn’t mind sharing.

Not PP but to show you don't need super high stats, my DD was accepted with an UW 3.8 (4.4 weighted MCPS) and test optional. It's a contender for her, not just a back-up.

Are you thinking the quickness is related to high stats? I think they have worked through the backlog and will have a pretty quick turnaround until apps go up again late fall.

He got into the Deitrich School- stats are fine but not blowing the roof off. 3.98 UW, 1430 SAT (he's actually taking it again this weekend), and a decent amount of APs (Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, Literature, APUSH, etc.). ECs are decent, one sport and several academic teams and an afterschool job tutoring science and math. We're not from the DC area, but I got the idea to apply to Pitt from this group--it looks like a great school and it gave him a huge boost of confidence and energy to get an acceptance this early.

DW is a Pitt alum, DD applied a few weeks ago and DW reached out to friends in admissions/development to give them an FYI and they stressed that DD should attend in-person tour and info session (3 different Pitt admins told her this). Stats are 3.6 UW/3.86W, TO, DC private (not top 3), 4 APs, honors courses, varsity athlete, decent ECs. Take from that what you will.

So excited my kid got accepted for business! 1510 and WGPA 4.3. Amazing to have such a great option this early! Wish they announced honors college earlier.

Applied 8/1 for nursing; under review 8/12. We are at 10+ weeks from application and more than 8 weeks once under review. Is anyone else in the same situation?
