Anyone heard from Pitt yet?

Would you be willing to let us know the following:
1. Does PITT need Letters of Recco (DCs school still does not have them ready)
2. Any idea what they look for - DC has a high SAT - 0ver 1550 and weighted GPA of 4.3, with 3 APs taken so far and taking 2 more in Senior year. 3 Leadership roles and NMSF semi-finalist

Just start filling out the app! Time is of the essence with Pitt and merit.

Research the total enrollment at each. They are all below 2,500 students.

When I went to main campus, Pitt Johnstown transfers were the transfers I ran across the most.

If your goal is to get to main campus for sophomore year, you could also go to another school instead of a Pitt branch campus. I'm sure the branch campuses have good teachers but the towns they are in are not big draws.

Top SAT scores. Women in engineering get the most. Computer science unlikely to get any.

Is "top" relative (i.e., determined by major)?

They’ve been giving less merit every year, so I don’t know what it is like this year. Most students are admitted to Dietrich, so they are technically undeclared even if they’ve indicated a preference.

In previous years, they didn’t start evaluating for merit until October.

There are students admitted to their honors college who don’t receive merit. You can certainly hope for it, but i wouldn’t expect it.

Same question about honors...are there GPA/score thresholds for the honors college?

My son was offered a spot. Dual Pitt legacy, 1430, 3.9 unwtd., Dietrich. Admitted to 5 year w/ Masters at GSPIA program also.

These questions indicate neither your or your kid has spent even two minutes researching Pitt.

Clearly, it’s not a school of interest so just move on.

Yes! Applied 9/12 and heard back 9/25 but she did not apply to the honors program so that might have expedited the decision process.

1. No
2. Your child will be admitted to Pitt. If they apply early enough they will be admitted to comp major.

Pitt, not PITT. It’s an abbreviation, not an acronym.

Accepted tonight! Dietrich. Applied 9/15, I think they're catching up on August backlog.

Honors admission process is separate, so it’s not related. Pitt admissions is rolling, that’s why she heard early. Maybe she was a slam dunk, maybe it’s because they have a new system and they finally hit it up and running.

Honors has a deadline, probably Dec 1, and everyone gets an answer at the same time, usually in March.

+1. I wish the process was as straightforward as Pitt for other colleges/universities. So MANY supplements.
