Team uniforms

What? Lol so many of you are so stingy and salty. Optics and branding matter. What it means is it isn't equitable..they are not the same thing. If a uniform fee is the make it break for you then competitive sports aren't for you.

I got so sick of buying different versions of the same uniforms. Have a ton of practice Ts for every club too. I do donate the ones that are outgrown by my kids--but if one kid can still fit in some of these uniforms--I wait.

But the damn backpacks...no I'm done. What a waste of $ and fabric. My older son just started using a generic backpack (non-club logo black) u17-u19

The backpacks kill me! DS has moved around a lot and always insists he wants a backpack for the new club. He’s now u17. You can imagine the collection! Last year when I bought his at u16 I told him that was the last one I’ll be purchasing. Our garage is full of backpacks for soccer and baseball. I wish I had someone to pass them to. Just yesterday I decided that they are all going as soon as I have time!

+1 our mudroom is a sea of old soccer bags.

We did buy the backpack and it’s been 4 yrs and still going. It helped that they got rid of white shorts so now we wear blue shorts for all both games (away/ home) and practices. Older versions shorts are also acceptable.

That’s very sane, is this for ECNL?

Confirmed. ECNL girls started to have their own red hoodie last year with their initial embroidered. If was around $50-60 adidas hoodie so it seemed reasonable. We have not purchased jackets or warmup pants (they aren’t really warm) for years. My kids and others have been wearing old practice shirts/ shorts and no issue as well. We bought our blue shorts (white stripes) on Amazon to wear for mostly practices cuz they are cheaper than the one with red stripe (we save these for games days only).

I know some clubs have game day warmup shirts for warming up before game then have to change into game jersey before game starts. Thought that’s ridiculous

So poor quality coaching and soccer, but everyone looks fancy at a high price is the benchmark

If you have extra backpacks, level the playing field will accept them or Goodwill. Just may need to give them a wash.

Back to griping!

If only the Africans and South Americans knew the secret to producing top level players was overpriced gear for kids 😁

Nothing is free. The cost is hidden within the club fees.

Anonymous wrote:Can't speak to your club, at ours:
League games, Fall, Winter, Spring
4-5 tournaments per year (depends on age)
2 practices per week with skilled coaches throughout the year
Free clinics (4-6 weeks, 1x per week) each season, focusing on gk, ball mastery, defending, etc
1 week team summer camp
I'm sure there's more, I can't remember right now

If you are unhappy with your club, leave and go to another - there are so many in the dmv, no reason to be a Debbie Downer, take your kid and your money and go elsewhere
Also free

The questions isn't whether or not you can afford it but whether what clubs are asking for is an excessive amount of stuff. Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you want to piss away money.

Not complaining about cost of kit. Commenting about how many bags in mudroom. Keep up, buddy.

You're not wrong.... about 4 girls formed a clique who all had phones last year. All comparing which phone models they had, instantly leaving the other girls out.... no more talking at team outings, just kids staring at their phones... and their parents just allow them to do it instead of socializing. Rant over, wrong thread. Just a pet peeve!
