Team uniforms

I always find it funny when soccer parents complain about costs like a few hundred bucks is highway robbery as well. That's a drop in the bucket for other sports' gear. Come back and complain when you deal with things like hockey, gymnastics, and dance on a competitive level and how expensive the costs of just the uniform/costumes/gear you have to purchase are.

I mean you can complain about all those costs too if you want . But for sure when a leotard that is worn a total of 6 times costs the same as the entire kit that you wear way more times than that it makes you feel a little better about the cost.

From a parents perspective its not so much the kit and the cost - although they hit you right after dues for the next season - it's forcing you to buy stuff that you might never wear or use.

A high quality backpack, home/away kit, and a dual purpose rain/warmup jacket would be my ideal and then optional nonsense.

For those who think it is not the club's fault, you are wrong.

SYC had a big negotiation with Capelli. SYC gets the kickbacks, and the parents are the ones who have to pay the hefty fee. Quality is horrible and customer service is even worst. And we have to get new uniforms every two years. Ridiculous.

I have an attic full of different Club backpacks and uniforms. I stopped donating them because between kids one will pop up at a different club every so often. Don't care if the number matches their uniform or if it's the 'old' version of the club backpack.

I got so sick of buying different versions of the same uniforms. Have a ton of practice Ts for every club too. I do donate the ones that are outgrown by my kids--but if one kid can still fit in some of these uniforms--I wait.

But the damn backpacks...no I'm done. What a waste of $ and fabric. My older son just started using a generic backpack (non-club logo black) u17-u19

Alexandria Futsal (capelli too) was the absolute worst. Then, you'd buy all the crap---it would show up 5 weeks late and then they would decide the team would just wear the regular Alexandria club jerseys since not everyone had the futsal uniform. We literally have unused futsal uniforms..and then they would have a subtle change to the jersey and want everyone to buy a new one again.

Ha. So true. My entire NoVA girl's team was sponsored by 'Patrick' in the 80s (syc). We got free uniforms, free bags and even free cleats one year. No joke.

All about perspective, isn't it?
Based on the rest of the entire globe, we spend way more on soccer than anyone else.
We have nothing exceptional or above and beyond to show for it.

This is why now the club is making us but the kit with no option of purchasing individual items. Soooo frustrating. Soccer is a business- Entertainment and leisure - Not a sport in the US.

Capelli is the worst! The quality of the material is horrible.

And at our club they wear the kit and practice gear for 2 years (Fall/Winter/Spring leages and 4-5 tournaments depsning on age). It's not expensive if your kid sticks with it.

Does the club get some money back, sure, but they use it to buy gear for their coaches and staff (who are not making a ton of money) and equipment (cones, goals and whatnot) that your child uses at practice. Don't want to pay for a uniform? Play Rec

Backpacks, sweater, pants, 4 jerseys.
I will never buy another item from Springfield Soccer again.
o

Springfield Soccer isn’t the problem. I have no affiliation with them, but the brick and mortar retailers are the least of the problem.

It seems to be a soccer thing. The other sports my kid has played have you purchase a uniform, but everything else is optional

It’s the backpack that kills me. It’s our 5th year with the club and our 3rd required black backpack. At least our socks are the same this year so we can keep those 🙄

I WISH I only paid $390. LOL

Ours was almost twice that, but I do get extra socks
