Wasps on Monifa McKnights new gig

If we ignore the troll (please), I think the action plan was actually fine, but the lesson learned was that McKnight had lost the trust of the stakeholders to actually implement the plan.

Nothing that McKnight has said to date leads me to believe that she has any insight or humility on how all of this went down, but if she did, it would make an interesting set of lectures and lessons learned.

For example, if she had humility, she might note that she was not entirely prepared for the role, and so brought in trusted advisors to shore her up. Unfortunately that created a perception of favoritism and "make work" for cronies.

There are absolutely lessons to be learned from her tenure, but I just don't think she has the perspective or distance to acknowledge or share them.

A large amount of taxpayer money is going directly into her pockets. Millions of dollars. Meanwhile teachers are being laid off, services are being cut in schools, the 911 dispatch system in critically under staffed ………

How can UMD COE justify her paycheck? They are elevating her above many other hard-working and underpaid professors to take on a role to build partnerships with local school systems and teachers. What teacher in MoCo is going to trust her plans and leadership?

Do we know how much they are paying her?

I actually don't think this is DEI box checking. I think it is class solidarity. UMC people protect each other, and Dr. McKnight is one of them now.

If that were the case, umd would be creating thousands of bs jobs for alumni. But they don't. This is racial

+1 Sorry, but I think some of these uber liberal organizations bend over backwards when they come across a "highly educated" URM.

My kids went through MCPS, and I have one kid at UMD, though thankfully, not part of the College of Education, but still, very disappointed in this decision by UMD.

I'm UMC. Where's my Flounder-in-Residence?

People need to face the possibility that McNight really is the best the Government Education Industrial complex has to offer.

Seriously? You thought she would be unemployed for the rest of her life?

She could be a Principal or a Teacher or a postdoc Researcher.

This is a sign. Umd will be losing it's public ivy status if this is the kind of nonsense it stands for. What a joke!

UMd has public ivy status? LOL!

Fun click-bait!

When do we have to admit that higherups just wash eachothers hands with dirty favors while they can do no wrong and have carte blanche for life.
