yes, that's what i meant by saying there's no good that comes of it.

Obviously soda and juice isn't much better, but given the downsides, it seems hard to justify drinking much or any alcohol.

If a person drinks a bit everyday instead of smoking pot, I'd say that is an upside. In my area, most people have switched from alcohol to weed, and smelling weed all day is so much worse.

Then I started replacing it with something else on most weekdays unless I was out with friends. And more recently, I had a hangover from two drinks and the appeal of alcohol has disappeared. We will see how long it lasts, but I don’t want to consume something that just makes me feel bad.

Same here. I do have to make an effort though but I find if I just get over the hump of the stress of transitioning from work to my second shift, it’s fine. Now I aim to drink only on the weekends and it’s never more than 2 drinks.

I did a Dry January and it stuck for five months. More recently, I have had a few drinks at social events/vacation.

wow. what were you drinking exactly?

These days I drink just on holidays at family feasts and am limited to 2-3 drinks because I get buzzed easily and don’t want the hangover or the potential migraine.

oh yeah, we need to have a conversation about weed.

if you think smoking cigarettes is bad, don't smoke pot.

We usually unwind with a glass of wine at the end of the day. And on the weekends, that might be 2-3 glasses.

I do think its a bit silly though when I see these posts where the teetotalers seem to think anyone who drinks is running around drunk all the time or sleeping off a hangover.

We also workout, go for bike rides, take hikes, on the weekends. And then, we open a bottle of red and sit on the deck in the evening.

The thinly veiled judgement and superiority is not a good look, guys

You seem kinda defensive.

6-10 drinks is more than I want, but doesnt' sound excessive.

6-10 drinks a week, every week or most weeks, is absolutely excessive. If you have drinks that equal to or more than the # of days in a week, that's insane to me.

6-10 drinks a week when you're on vacation? That's different ok, but isn't your normal weekly habit.

Isn’t the limit for women 1 drink a day? So 7 drinks a week? This doesn’t seem excessive.

Anyways, these threads are just an excuse for the teetoler types to be smug. Drink, or don’t. No one really cares.

1-2 drinks about 6 or so times per year…..no weed

I’m kind of fat though so junk food is my drug of choice. Trying to quit!

Question for parents; did your drinking habits change when you have kids?

I’m 31, no kids, married and I enjoy drinking - my husband and I go out a couple nights a week and have a few. I want to cut back but it’s tough haha, it’s a fun way to unwind.

Two large rocks glasses of something like Woodford at the end of every day as a "wind down"

So an edible is OK then I guess?

It’s so effing stupid that federal employees with clearances cannot partake in weed, yet theoretically could drink a six pack every night.

I definitely drink too much and want to cut back, but I can’t smoke weed.

A handful of times a year at parties. I agree with you that it hits me harder at this age but I do enjoy the tipsy feeling when at a fun event. I never just drink at home though.
