NCSL Rec League

They also had it on the website. It’s useful when an assistant coach has to coach the team or someone else for any reason the head coach can’t make it. It’s a simple thing that has always been done. And they currently are doing it for travel!

NCSL hired an employee just to deal with rec teams.

Agreed.

Man, this all seems like a move to force Rec families into joining the travel programs.

Parents might say to themselves, "Might as be in the travel program, we're driving further away and have to buy the uniforms anyways!"

No, most rec parents will just forfeit the Fredericksburg games and iron a number on any old shirt from their kid's bureau.

I am a little annoyed that we have so many away games on crappy grass fields. Its one thing to play on a nice grass field but Stringfellow Park (CYA) and Catharpin are garbage fields. Both these orgs have turf for every single one--even U-little teams--for their travel team games but have their older rec kids playing on awful, hole-y grass fields.

Our dc's team has a game in Fredericksburg on a grass field . (Coach says the schedule will be changed)

The teams forfeiting should get together and scrimmage to make up the game

That's a really good idea, actually. Will suggest it to our coach.

It used to be that Rec got the good fields on Saturday and travel got them on Sundays. Now there are SO many travel teams that travel gets good fields on both days and Rec gets what is leftover.

Ironically, since it seems like these orgs are making a fortune on these rec teams. $270 is completely insane. I can't imagine what they are doing with all that money they are making. It seems way more profitable than travel.

I'm glad PWSI has its own rec program; the same is true of NVSC in Prince William County. Both programs are great! No need to add a league complication until travel soccer is required.

We have a SFL games against NVSC and PWSI this season for U13 girls. SFL only happens at ages where so many kids quit or leave for travel that internal leagues are no longer workable
