Hmmm. I don’t think you should totally change how you dress, but if you make tweaks you are comfortable with that could be ok. What if you just got more fitted versions of what you already wear? Like fitted tees in flattering colors? I’m a mom now so I don’t do it often but a fitted tee with a scoop neck and jeans is …noticed shall we say? Maybe just upgrade your shoes too. Like cute madewell new balances instead of beat up sneakers.
But there’s a balance and I don’t like the idea of you going out and shopping for something you aren’t comfortable wearing for him. Going from the clothes you have described to a low cut slip dress like some people are suggesting seems really uncomfortable. |

I’d wear this with sandals

| About 5 years ago my husband said “you have a great figure, you should dress like you have one.” He didn’t mean sexier and I interpreted it to mean cute casual such as sundresses, tees and short skirts, short cocktail dress, plus things that were just more form fitting. It didn’t push me out of my comfort zone but I really liked the result. I also bought a couple of very nice nightgowns which he seems to appreciate. |
I’m the 10:23 and I love this, it’s just the kind of dress I switched to. |
Where do you wear this kind of dress? I'll be honest and say my teenagers wear dresses like this everywhere in the summer, but I don't see adult women wearing them out. |
| This would be a red flag for me, sorry. It's one thing for a man to prefer his wife/gf get dressed and look put together each day. Entirely different to specifically request "sexy". Strange |
Listen we all have friends help us find fun clothes. Let’s just help here! |
Dinner, lunch, brunch, vineyard I literally wear dresses all summer with sandles. |
PP, my sun dresses aren’t this short but I like the basic look. I’ll wear it to a casual party or to a nice lunch during the summer. I’m pretty trim, tall and fit so I can make it work. |

Gotta say, I had one boyfriend say this to me in my early 30s. I think I was feeling particularly vulnerable as this was the first relationship after my divorce that was riddled with infidelity. So, I tried it and subsequently felt so demeaned that I tossed the clothes and the guy.
Went back to the way I prefer to dress and do my hair & nails, and a couple of years later met the man of my dreams who -- 20 years later -- still loves me the way I am. OP, I'd dump this guy if I were you. |
I'm the one who asked the question because of the length of the dress. Where do you find sundresses that are a bit longer? |
None of these are sexy at ALL. The last one might be a little cute. |
| OP, I would look through all the tops and dresses on Reformation. They are tasteful, form-fitting but not slutty. |
