Pissed at UVA

I think OP is one of those reddit kids who apparently found DCUM-- they put us to the test, and got their money's worth!!

But..... six of her friends got in EA and only two are going. So, 4 spots just pissed into the wind at her HS. And she has to sit it all out.

It just sucks. I can't help but be irate that some kid from Jersey can go there but my daughter can't

The measly $1000 I donated every year will cease.

The kid from Hersey has better stats.

Even scumbags from New Jersey are outraged by this UVA treachery!

Cheer up DD dodged a bullet, UVA isn’t what it used to be. Go find her best fit.

You paid an app fee? You're an idiot. Third week in October was free application to every school in the commonwealth.

Was this for all high schools? A friend of ours told us to have DS apply for free in October but we didn't hear anything about waived application fees. I looked it up and it appeared that this was only offered at certain high schools. (In any case he only applied at UVA so the one fee wasn't a back breaker.)

NP. The bold ticks me off. Not for the same reason as OP, though. I'm ticked at her being pissy about four students, who had options, actually made their own choices. Tough, OP. They applied to more than one school, got into more than one, made a choice. I get it, I understand the whole "each HS gets only so many acceptance slots" craziness. But each applicant and each family has a right to apply where they want and accept at the place they want. Yes, even if that place is not God's precious gift to the world, UVA. (And since this is DCUM and I know the groupthink here: No, no dog in this hunt, as the saying goes.)

so is the GPA.

Yeah. My kid accepted EA had a 4.0uw/4.4 GPA, 35 ACT. And submitted 5s on all APs.

The EA round is the toughest/most competitive according to Dean of admissions.

So sorry OP. I hope your disappointment isn’t echoed out to her but understand your frustration. She can still get to UVA in other ways if she really wants to go. Where else did she get accepted?

Standing by my wish that kids weren't allowed to post here. I’d put money on OP being a teenage troll.

Hmm . . . Another poster who got rejected.

Did you honestly think a 3.75 and 1350 would be enough???? No one cares about 4 year varsity athletes in HS. You either excel in club or not.
You kids stats were not even CLOSE to what it takes to get in.

This HAS to be a troll.

UVA Wise will let her finish up at Charlottesville. I'm sure her friends have told her she would not get in. It is not that much of a surprise to her.
