I just set a phone alarm to go out for every 20 minutes and yes did it while I was out. Put a small potty in the back to f the car. Left clothes to change into in the bathroom in case of accidents. You don’t need a special gadget. |
| We kept her in pull-ups for excursions until were pretty confident she wouldn't have an accident. Kept a small potty in the car and it was totally fine. Didn't make a big deal out of using a public toilet and that went fine, too. I think kids can feel/feed off your stress. |
| OP here - thanks all for the advice, we're staying home all day and have set my phone to alarm every 30 mins. Any other tips or tricks would be awesome. I'm hopeful she'll start to pick it up more this weekend! |
| Good luck! |
| How goes, OP? We’re also committing to potty training on weekends and have had two accidents so far — even worse than last weekend, annoyingly. Hope your day is going better than mine! |

Not great, seems when we can't do it in the week we start from the beginning again. I've taken her every 30 mins and we've had a couple of successes, but we've had a couple of accidents as well after sitting for 10 minutes which has been frustrating. I'm not so sure why she isn't ready when we take her for the accidents.
She's seems to be starting to develop a fever, so she's not as full of energy compared to last weekend, but we'll keep trying |
| OP here, previous post was mine! |
Ugh, sorry to hear it! (PP who has also had two accidents today.) My kid went down for his nap a full hour earlier than usual so I’m thinking he’s not fully with it either. Good luck to us both (and may the long weekend next weekend be beneficial). |
I hope so we'll have to keep on going, she's struggled to settle for a proper nap today so think we're going to have a very tired afternoon. Let me know how your afternoon goes! |

Not OP but OP’s this weekend potty training buddy. We did better after nap (successful potty, playground, successful potty) but due to the weird early nap the gap between dinner and before-bath potty was too long and he had another accident. So tired of this phase.
Here’s hoping for better luck tomorrow. |
| OP here - no luck yesterday, but she's a little better today so hopefully we can make progress. |
| Op I would just get her potty trained and then tell daycare. I always got my kids potty trained and then just let them know. I didn’t want or need their assistance. I did 3 day naked at home (except it really took about a week) By the end of it, my kids would force daycare ti take them. |
That’s not a good reason. I don’t know any parent who sits there and goes “yeah, I don’t have enough stuff to do after a long day at work. I’d like to spend my time potty training my child.” No one says that. You have to make time. That’s the point. If it’s a priority for you then it wouldn’t be optional. If it’s not a priority then that’s fine. Some people like to wait until later. But then you cannot complain about daycare not doing much when you don’t do any training on the weekdays. |
Thanks I don't know how I find the time, I'm working fully on this on the weekends, so after daycare, at the end of my work, we have to get groceries, clubs and other chores. I don't want to leave it later but can't prioritise it more at the moment. I will take the evenings that we can to do this |
She’s not ready. Try again in a few months. You’re making it stressful for her and for yourself. |
