We've been potty training our now 3 year old. She's doing okay at home, we've been in pants and had some success. We still use pull ups when out but she's good and has more success than accidents.
We send her to pull ups at daycre until she's a little more reliable as per policy requirements. However we've found they've been putting her in diapers throughout the day and it's started to cause huge regression back to limited success at home. How do I challenge daycare about this? Is there a reason they'd be doing this? |

I don’t get the problem? You send her in diapers (pull-ups are diapers) and they put her in diapers until she’s reliably trained. In my experience daycares really don’t do the training, no matter what they claim; you have to train the kids at home and then send them in undies.
It is a frustrating period (right now there with kid 2 — he had 1 accident only each day last weekend so hopefully next weekend he’ll be accident free and can go in undies) but it is what it is. |
| Are you sending extra pull ups with her? Seems she’s needing a change and so they put her in what’s available - a diaper. If you send extra pull ups and they are putting her in diapers, that’s really weird and I would tell them to stop and use the pull ups you provide. |
| Are you sending her in the pullups that have the side straps with velcro? My daycare can't stand pullups because you have to take the pants off (and shoes too!)and they step into them. They requested either diapers or the training pants with side velcro so that they can just put them on quickly. I think this might be your issue. |

OP here - she has success when out in pull ups so we hoped it was a middle ground.
We send plenty of spares and have flagged we've sent them, they've only ever used 2 we've sent over our entire week. They have flagged she has asked to go a couple of times although has had a few accidents as well. We're sending in disposable pull ups so it is trousers off if she needs to put a new one on, she needs a little help getting trousers and shoes back on but can pull her trousers up and down of course |
She isn't potty trained and she's 3 years old,! |
Op here not why I'm posting I know she's old and I'm feeling the pressure, but there's been reasons in a chaotic home life this hasn't been completed yet |
Send the kind with the sides that open, otherwise they’ll keep switching to diapers. Helping a child completely undress for diaper changes is too much at daycare, especially with 3yo ratios. |
THIS. My daycare likes Pull ups and refuses to use Pampers Easy Ups or a lot of other brands. It's too much to think they're completely undressing a child for potty time. |
| OP here, which brands can we use, we're using easy ups at the moment and they're working well for us out of the house |
These are what you want: https://www.target.com/p/huggies-pull-ups-girls-39-potty-disposable-training-pants-size-3t-4t-66ct/-/A-50526197 |
in addition to huggies, safeway also has some refastenable pull-ups |
Don't send in diapers, only send in pull ups. |
|
Op here- thank you we are sending in pull ups but will pick the ones that are flagged that can be put on differently
We're chatting to the daycare today after drop off to see if there's anything else we can do |
| You're going to be forced to, you know, talk to them. |
