I travelled a lot in high end places when I was dating someone who made a lot of money. If you haven't done that, or worked in one of these places, it may not resonate as much with you.

Good god you status obsessed strivers are so transparent. Yes, people who don’t “get” your cringy soap opera written by a gay man must be proles who’ve never been anywhere. lol

What does the writer being gay have anything to do with anything? Wut

Same reason SATC was rubbish. What does a childless gay bachelor know about about relationships, marriages, kids, and families? Absolutely nothing. The show is nothing but degenerate rubbish. But it’s always humorous to see the nitwit proles convince themselves they’re watching genius.

I love it. Humorous and escapist.

How do you have time to post here - or even know what this show is? Shouldn't you be busy doing whatever you do instead of watching tv and eating brunch?

It’s a slow-paced social satire that asks you to study the human behavior of wealthy people like you might study gorillas or something. I think you’re either fascinated by what Mike White is going for here or you’re not.

It's fair to ask if you should stick with it - but probably not after saying you think it's bad, childish, boring, and only for Gen Z. You're just insulting everyone who likes the show while also waiting for us all to say, "you're so much smarter than we are, you should just go read some shakespeare instead of watching this show we all love because we are mush-brained idiots."

If you don't like a show you don't like a show. I gave up on Shogun halfway through the first ep because I got so disturbed by the torture scene. I know - it's a great show! Andor, too, I just can't get into. But I'm not going to come on here and insult everyone who likes it while demanding they tell me if I should keep going with this beloved property that I can certainly see that a lot of people enjoy a lot more than I do.

It's ok if something is not for you. It doesn't make you better or worse than the people who like it.

You are WAY too triggered. It’s okay to like entertaining garbage, but it’s silly to think that someone else pointing out that it’s garbage is a personal insult. I also gave up on Shogun, because it’s in the same vein as White Lotus - it’s a turd wrapped in shiny gift wrap. Same with Squid Game.

I actually find it disturbing that the general population seems to be losing its collective ability to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to art.

you are so elevated. so elevated. you should just program our lives, good brilliant one. tell us the wheat from the chaff - we're too stupid, too limited, to do it ourselves.

The PP shows up on various threads to make sure to tell everyone how stupid and uncultured they are - unlike her, of course. It's pretty amusing.

Enlightened was a fabulous Mike White show that seemed to get very little talk.

+100
I've thought about rewatching that. Such a fantastic, cringey show.

You do realize that many people recognize shows like White Lotus as the vapid garbage that they are, don’t you?

Or do you really believe that there is just one person on all of DCUM who thinks you have shitty taste?

White Lotus is objectively not vapid. The use of literature and symbolism, for example- why would they bother if they dont want the audience to pick up on it? Why bother having Victoria dress in a jumper that looks like the mirror image of a Buddhist robe while telling her daughter that she can never really be Buddhist because she's not Chinese? If we are just making fun of rich southern ladies, why not put her in Lily Pulitzer?

Will you guys stop the childish insults. People like different things. There is all kinds of trash for all kinds of different people.

Hahaha, I could have written this. I'm in entertainment and basically have to watch anything that does well. All I can think is that something this bad makes people feel better about their own lives not being this bad. The suitcase scene in S1 is beyond me.

He’s bisexual anyway.

You don’t have to like everything that is popular. I have seen people post on here numerous times about how good Schitts Creek is. I tried twice; couldn’t get past the 3rd episode. I hated it. It’s just wasn’t for me.

Agreed. I think DCUM is the place people are allowed to say whatever the F pops into their heads, insults and all. DCUM says the things some people think but would never (rarely) say out loud.

Same with SC. I also didn’t like WL season 1 or 2 (watched the first couple of episodes with my husband and was bored, he kept watching). I’m now giving season 3 a real try and watching with him and I find it more interesting probably because the setting is beautiful and bc I know people like several of the characters so it’s funny to me.

Enlightened was brilliant.
White Lotus is good. I like bits of each episode.
