I think some suburban housewives become very negative + dour when the kids are growing up. Skip it OP. It is not for you. |
Almost all the characters are unlikeable. I wasn’t a fan. |
Season 1 was a slow burn and character study.

I am surprised rich dcum folks can't my relate it's like the family is an extreme version of my household |
I loved it from the jump. I just enjoy that it’s all about subtle relationship dynamics. |
Season 1 was a sign of the times. It had every leftist mass media and social media trend in it - dei, blm, aspergers, gay fathers, ballbuster moms, mommas boys, gay hosts, brainwashed college girls, anti-colonists, etc. |
That’s on purpose |
Like many of the HBO Sunday night shows, it’s fun to watch with the rest of America/twitter/dcum and discuss in real time that night or over the next week. It’s a little less fun if you’re off-sync. |
I think it's just not for you. I loved it from the first episode.
I really hate when people ask if a show gets good. No, sir, it's terrible all the way through - that's why there's a 300 page thread of us dissecting every little piece of its third season. Because we all hated it, and were just waiting for you, wise one, to speak what we were all feeling. |
I think some shows are a little slow to get going, so it’s fair to ask if you should stick with it. I don’t think this is one of those shows though. It’s a slow-paced social satire that asks you to study the human behavior of wealthy people like you might study gorillas or something. I think you’re either fascinated by what Mike White is going for here or you’re not. |
It's fair to ask if you should stick with it - but probably not after saying you think it's bad, childish, boring, and only for Gen Z. You're just insulting everyone who likes the show while also waiting for us all to say, "you're so much smarter than we are, you should just go read some shakespeare instead of watching this show we all love because we are mush-brained idiots." If you don't like a show you don't like a show. I gave up on Shogun halfway through the first ep because I got so disturbed by the torture scene. I know - it's a great show! Andor, too, I just can't get into. But I'm not going to come on here and insult everyone who likes it while demanding they tell me if I should keep going with this beloved property that I can certainly see that a lot of people enjoy a lot more than I do. It's ok if something is not for you. It doesn't make you better or worse than the people who like it. |
S1 is subpar. Sidney Sweeney's character was soooooo unlikeable. S2 and S3 are better. |
YES this is so well said and I completely agree. I actually like hearing what other people disliked when it's part of a discussion, but that should be framed as X didn't work for me because Y--not just labeling something as terrible and then sitting back waiting to see if others can convince you. |
+1 It’s insufferable. I think it’s for the people who genuinely think Downton Abbey was a great, intelligent show. Don’t get me wrong, mindless drivel high production value soap operas can be fun and entertaining, but the review on these two shows don’t match the reality IMO. |
You are WAY too triggered. It’s okay to like entertaining garbage, but it’s silly to think that someone else pointing out that it’s garbage is a personal insult. I also gave up on Shogun, because it’s in the same vein as White Lotus - it’s a turd wrapped in shiny gift wrap. Same with Squid Game. I actually find it disturbing that the general population seems to be losing its collective ability to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to art. |
