Isn't that the MCPS "reporter" who also moonlights for MCPS?

She's just trying to make contacts to help her write her next book.

So the web will continue to tangle.

Principal Interns are interviewing for permanent roles now? In January? That seems very early compared to when I last checked and it’s a huge conflict of interest.

Interns haven't even finished their internship BUT 19 openings is an all the high at this stage in the year. By June, there will be at least 7-8 more. Principals who are still left and are seeing their professions tarnished by this horrible situation will not stay much longer. Many principals are appalled at what is currently happening.

Then why don't they speak out? At the MCEA forcefully and publicly condemns McKnight's mess. MCAAP has only done so once or twice and it was mainly about their dissatisfaction with regard to their upcoming annual meeting with her.

Look who runs MCAAP.

Removed principal after locker room rape.

True. Christine Handy is a mess. I don't know why the education industry is determined to prop up failures instead of purging them.

I think you all are mixing up two different people/cases. MCAAP president Handy was principal at Gaithersburg. Crouse was principal at Damascus.

No, we’re not mixing up two cases. Like Crouse, Handy was ousted after a sexual assault case happened under her watch at Gaithersburg with the wrestling team: https://www.mymcmedia.org/former-gaithersburg-students-family-suing-school-board-says-he-was-assaulted-in-locker-room/

But Handy was not "ousted" as principal. She left Gaithersburg because she was elected as president of the National Association of Secondary School Principals. This was announced in 2017.

For the next Sup, get a hard working teacher who needs the $ but more importantly has moral compass to lead this huge system.

In true MCPS fashion, she was being shuffled around because of the scandal. She was immediately shuffled to Einstein, and when the family started pressing lawsuits and MCPS couldn’t cover for her, she jumped ship to MCAAP.

This is the same stunt MCPS tried to pull with Beidleman in moving him from Farquhar to PB, but it blew up in their faces when the teachers went to the Post with their story and Monifa couldn’t finesse things quietly anymore.

Your timeline doesn't make sense. Handy had already been elected NASSP president in 2017. She served as president for the 2018-19 school year, then when her term ended she returned to MCPS and was named Einstein principal.

Dear God, not one of the equity warrior principals who've been throwing academic rigor under the bus.

This area attracted pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, in part, because of the (former) reputation of the school system. We need a leader who can bring us back to what we once were.

Gaithersburg had the same thing happen with sports boys "brooming" each other. They also had a teacher who was impregnated by a student (and kept the baby!). She did her best to sweep it all under the rug and then was put in charge of MCAAP. The new principal is supposed to be good, though.
