Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
It shouldn’t be a surprise, it was very clear on the calendar. |
Spring break was on the calendar and people made plans. They can open if that's what they decide but a lot of people won't be there. |
Private? How can they make that call ahead of central ? |
So you just sit around not making plans on the off chance that some administrator will take away spring break days? |
| Delay announced tonight. Closure announced at 8 a.m. tomorrow. |
They have already burned through all the snow days. |
|
To answer the question…. I hope they make the call tonight and not right as I out my child on the bus. Is that too much to ask ?!
I think it’s closure 100% based on expected snowfall and it’s all day. |
Public! She's at North Bethesda MS - and as I said, no idea how much faith to put in that. |
Closure.
|
She probably misheard. The announcement was "No Virtual Learning". MCPS had to decide that before noon today. But your kid is also right - there won't be school tomorrow. |
| Big time closure |
Exactly. This person has posted multiple times about how “irresponsible” it is to make plans in advance… during.. spring. break. No ones gonna make last minute plans on the offset there *might* be a makeup day. Absurd. They should just call Monday the 29th a half day and be done with it. |
Again, this would be very bad. Other than 1/29, we have problems. Two of the makeup days are Muslim holidays. Another day is a Jewish holiday in the evening. A third day impacts Muslim teachers. Two days are spring break. The final day is the last option and at the end so can’t be done first. |
Yep. Following the "let's create maximum hate for MCPS" handbook. |
So guys- when the time comes to provide feedback on the next calendar year, PROVIDE IT. Point out the lack of built-in snow days and using spring break as potential make-up days. In reality, no one will care if your kid is not there for a make-up day during spring break. But it would really screw over the teachers. |
