Oh, poor choice of words! We need to STOP using the term "pro-life' to describe those against abortion. They are anti-abortion (some ppl use the term forced birth but I prefer non-judgmental language. They ARE against abortion. I've been heartened to see journalists using anti-abortion more. Also, for pro-choice folks, use that. No pro-abortion. Words matter. |
Because forced birthers have been unmasked as the sadistic freaks they are and they’re feeling vulnerable and scared that none of their old tactics are working to shame us into silence. This court is saying that pregnancy erases any bodily autonomy that a woman has, that pregnancy can be a fatal condition at the will of the state and there ain’t nothin’ you can do about, wimmin. |
Right. They aren’t “pro-life,” they’re perfectly ok with pregnant women dying. |
This is all lovely, but I’m still going to put the blame on the forced birthers and their willingness to ignore democracy and cheat to the point that you can go ahead and run candidates in all 50 states - and I think we should - but Democrats are chiseled out of representation that they vote for in a heck of a lot of places. Put the blame where it belongs: on the people who have forced these laws down our throats at multiple levels. Like three stolen Supreme Court seats, for example. Not sure how you think we should have planned our way out of that one. |
+1 Just to lay it out, nobody is ever obliged to donate blood or organs even to save many many lives. Nobody can force someone to donate. Likewise, nobody can harvest organs from a corpse unless they had specifically consented. They will not touch it. Even to save lives. A pregnant woman has less autonomy over her body than a corpse. Think about it. |
I’m on your side but things don’t just happen. Everything was a series of choices. For the GOP, they realized that investing money in state govs would be a huge return on investment. They realized that getting mega churches would yield a big return. What have Democrats done? We elected a Black man and thought that was it. We left states and local gov uncontested. We didn’t argue the stakes or point out GOP horrors., heck, Di Fi was hugging Lindsey to the end. For too long Democrat establishment has refused to see the GOP for what they are. But this is thankfully changing. The GOP has been playing this game for 30 years. Dems are now catching up. But we MUST stop acting like we don’t have agency. We can change this. Not The Party, not the DNC. We. Everyday people. Find a swing state to donate and volunteer with. Start today talking to friends, family, colleagues about importance of voting. Have HS students in your life? Encourage them to start a voter registration drive. Have your college student join Young Dems in their red state college. And for gods sake, stop playing defense. The Democratic Party is strong and is delivering for Americans, especially for women. PERIOD. There is no , but… the party is strong, the grassroots are fired up, I’d rather be us than them. |
This should be the Dems mantra and there should be 24 hour political ads nationwide. |
How about anti abortion folks are pro killing women. |
This thread is about their misogynistic attitude towards women. They are also antisemitists, and white supremacist: https://www.texastribune.org/2023/10/27/matt-rinaldi-texas-gop-republicans-nick-fuentes/ https://www.texastribune.org/2023/12/02/texas-gop-antisemitism-resolution/ https://www.kxan.com/news/texas-politics/dan-patrick-says-pac-leaders-meeting-with-white-supremacist-was-a-blunder/ There are also plenty of other opinion pieces out there saying the same thing, that the Texas GOP is trying to return to the white male dominated political arena of the 1950's. |
A form of slavery. Nothing less. |
Not true. A late term abortion was okay to save a living life (ie, mother). Moreover, even a real life baby does not have all of the rights of an adult. A real life baby can't make decisions on his or her health care for example. |
“At the heart of this threat to EMTALA is a challenge to the idea that abortions are *ever* medically necessary. According to the anti-choice movement, the answer is no because every abortion ends “fetal life.” So you can see how transparently the EMTALA fight is really a fight over who is the patient in a medical emergency—the pregnant person or their developing pregnancy. It’s fetal personhood and medical trauma all wrapped together. So far the conservative federal courts have sided with the Alliance Defending Freedom and anti-choice movement in determining that state abortion bans override federal law here. If allowed to stand, that means no emergency abortion care, EMTALA be damned.” - Jessica Mason Pieklo https://twitter.com/hegemommy/status/1742627317338235367?s=46&t=kf1qYlCXQnKgUhJWEIu2vg |
Is next step SCOTUS? I’m turning my rage into action. |
Easy, once it can live outside her body with minimal medical assistance. |
Exactly, like in the old days. I would even say almost no medical assistance, you have a preemie and the preemie dies like "God intended." It's interesting the conservative anti women forced birthers don't ever mention this ever. I'm convinced it's going to take their wives, sisters and girlfriends dying or losing their fertility for conservatives to have a light bulb moment. More than likely they will just blame the pregnant/dead / infertile woman and the men will move on and start the cycle all over again with another woman, just like they did in the "good old days." |
