Lovely family but there is nothing Christmassy or holiday about it. It's very somber yet at the same time looks like a Gap Ad from the Nineties. It is too plain for my taste and too stylized.

He's the spare the the spare. Kid's gonna be shrunk like that forever. |
I like b&w if the lighting or background is really special. This blah portrait background doesn't lend itself to b&w. |
+1 It’s like the embodiment of Keep Calm and Carry On |
Maybe to counteract this abomination? |
Charles enters the chat. |
Aww, look at the nice racist family. I bet that nice racist lady is teaching her larlos and larla to be nice little racists, too. Hey larlos, hey larla - how dark do you think your cousins will be when they grow up? |
+1 At least the Kardashians typically dress up for their holiday card. I’m a traditionalist. My holiday card features a dressy family photo. Think: holiday garb. I think it’s weird when people use a photo with them in swimsuits on the beach. The white shirt and jeans family pic was a big thing 20 years ago. And black and white was 25-30 years ago. I’m sure they’re just trying to look relatable but I feel like they overcorrected. They could have worn jeans, but why not wear sweaters or vests and pose outside? |
Traumatized by family pictures as a child at sears???? I get it. |
I find it pretty soul-less and dull, but at least they're all wearing shoes. I hate the jeans + white shirts + barefoot family photos so much. |
+1 I credit Kate with bringing her background of a close-knit family and William with choosing that. They're both doing a great job with prioritizing their family, an environment that Charles and William didn't grow up with. The Prince and Princess of Wales are really doing a wonderful job striking that balance of public and private life. |
They usually go casual for their Christmas photo, right? It’s really funny to me that they’re trying to be modern and approachable but at the same time, Louis is in shorts per the aristocratic code. Can’t have anyone think they’re *too* normal! |
George is the only winner here. |
They certainly have the work life balance down. William and Catherine did fewer engagements combined than Prince Edward. Combined, less than half that of Princess Anne and King Charles. Even if Catherine only did one engagement per school day, plus a few whole family events over the summer, that would boost her engagements by 50% and put her above the 79-year-old Duke of Gloucester. |
Boring and lifeless. They can do better. |
