A love story for the ages.

I wonder if he held on for her. None of my business, of course, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

There was an article in the New York Times this morning about her style. For the presidential inauguration, she wore the same dress that she wore to his governor's inauguration. She brought her sewing machine to the WH and was the first First Lady to set up her own office.

A lot changed in 1980, including this kind of low-key approach to style, yet she always looked great.

So retro it seems cool.

Her service was today attended by living First Ladies and President Carter!, Biden and Clinton. Not sure why the other Presidents were not invited.

They should have left President Carter at home or found a way for him not to be photographed. Very sad and such a great man. And Rosalynn was perhaps even greater than him.

Why do you assume they weren't invited?

Because they weren’t there

Bill Clinton was another southern governor, so it makes sense that he was there. The Bidens are longtime friends with the Carters.

Trump, as well as Obama and Bush Jr. were invited but didn't attend: https://apnews.com/article/rosalynn-carter-funeral-jimmy-joe-biden-def25a63701d39a1516da25015e48683

Most of the time, a sitting President does not attend the funeral of First Lady due to the security disruption.

The last president to attend a first lady's funeral was John F. Kennedy, who went to Eleanor Roosevelt's service in 1962.

Former president Barack Obama did not attend Nancy Reagan's funeral in 2016 or Betty Ford's in 2011, and Bill Clinton did not attend the funeral of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Clinton did speak at a graveside service for her at Arlington National Cemetery in 1994.

“Imagine” was a poor song choice (sung by Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks). Its atheistic viewpoint seemed out of place for a Christian woman’s memorial. I wonder who chose it.

He said that he wanted her to predecease him so he could take care of her.

I was shocked by how Mr. Carter looked.

Listen and read the news. All former presidents and first ladies were invited. Obama and George W. Bush chose not to attend and no reason was given. I was surprised that Melania Trump attended though she did not clap when everyone else did.

He’s 99 and has been in hospice for six months. This is his wife’s funeral, not a TV special just for you.

What did you think he was going to look like, really?

and Trump, of course. I think it was quite insulting that none of these three bothered to attend.

Not really, it puts more focus on all the First Ladies instead of the Presidents. We will see them all (maybe not Trump) at Carter’s funeral and perhaps one will speak.
