egg-citing goings-on at Swanson?

This kind of behavior down in Westover has been going on for many years. Years ago I had a conversation with the owner of Ayers about how bad it is.

The parents of these little felons or random community members that are supposed to act as community law enforcement? The Tramontes are great people but asking the community to act instead of calling 911 to arrest these kids is not an answer.

I thought he had the right idea. Have the parents come see what their kids are going and/or deter them.

Calling the police is outsourcing parenting. It's the last thing to do, not the first.

Have the parents of these specific kids come to Westover?

If the kids have been identified, Tramonte can reach out to those parents directly and say “We have a problem, be part of the solution or next time I press charges.” But just asking them to show up? Won’t happen for so many reasons.

If he really meant that any SMS parents should come to Westover after school lets out, that’s a whole other problem. The parents who would show up to “help” with community enforcement are likely the last ones you’d want in the middle of this.

I don't know. The parents who would volunteer and the ones who actually care. They may be exactly the ones who should get involved.

Disagree. Asking other parents to volunteer is like asking Swanson to solve the problem. This is an issue for the kids' parents and law enforcement.

The point is that if the parents of the junior criminals won’t step up, maybe the other parents will call the police.

Yeah, not this level bad. Egging old people with stolen eggs and getting on the roof to damage HVAC is pretty next level.

Garden variety shoplifting and rudeness, sure.

Not particularly debating whether some of those kids are a-holes. Just inconvenient facts pertaining to this situation.

DP - To be fair, former McK is the neighborhood surrounding Swanson & Westover, so it's a logical first guess. The question I want to know is if they are headed to W&L or YHS.

W&L

No one knows that. The odds are equal between W&L, YHS or private for high school.

Eh, not really. Certain schools only feed into one HS. So, had they been former McK or Glebe, then W&L or YHS would be split. Tuckahoe, however, only goes to YHS. Barrett only goes to W&L, etc.....

This. Highly doubt they are going to private school.

So, these are definitely not south Arlington, Wakefield-bound kids? What is this County coming to?

No, they are not SA kids, you snob.

The literal-ness of DCUM posters always makes me laugh. This person was being snarky and calling out that everyone thinks the trouble makers all reside in S Arlington. When they clearly don't.

That's why I chose private for mine. They were all a$$holes in 5th too. Parents, not much better.

It’s not nice to call children A-holes, some students did not do anything.

Some kids are in fact a##holes. I stand by this.

Even if they did, those kids would be bussed home at the end of the day, not wandering around Westover. Guess what...the kids doing this are the kids whose parents pay $1.5M to live in 22207.

More likely 22205. But still just as expensive. New homes are typically around 2.5 mill and up.

Yes, exactly! Thank you. But I can see how the snark could be missed, given so many nasty comments on DCUM being in all sincerity.
