This was a bomb threat that was called into the school. An SRO could do nothing to stop it. I don't even think they can investigate it. More specialized teams are needed for that. |
At least for me, the desire to have SROs returned has nothing to do with the threat today. It's about having a presence there that helps dissuade would-be troublemakers from being disruptive. It won't stop everyone, but it will definitely make a lot of kdis think twice. Also, the Swanson SRO was great and a positive adult for those kids. |
Then why bring up SROs to begin with in this thread? |
The original thread was about kids vandalizing a local shop. Then it added on today’s bomb threat. I don’t think anyone posting about SROs today was referencing the threat, they probably read the thread from the beginning and didn’t realize it had taken a different turn. |
Sure... ![]() Actually, SROs wouldn't have helped in the Westover incident either, because it wasn't on school property. But any reason to bring them up because it's a talking point for some people for sure. APS got rid of them for a reason. |
This thread isn't about the threat from today. It's about the unruly behavior at Westover by Swanson students. Any parent on the Swanson FB page knows this is a spillover from what happens at school. The presence of SROs in the school would definitely impact behavior on campus and that would impact behavior after school. Getting rid of them was a mistake. |
