Maybe they use some private server like the Bush white house used the RNC email server in the run-up to the Iran war so the emails could be easily lost. |
Wow. A couple of takeaways, one serious and one frivolous. 1) It sounds like the victim did all the right things, including filing a report using the "correct" form, and if she can demonstrate that Walker breached protocol and common decency by disclosing her name, this feels like a pretty open-and-shut case of retaliation. 2) How old are the people in this story and why are they drinking to the point of blacking out with coworkers? Even if we leave aside the part of this story that's about bullying and sexual harassment, I've been an MCPS parent long enough to have heard and seen evidence of reams of stories about workplace affairs. Far more than I've ever seen in my own field. What is it about education that brings so much drama among the adult employees? Is it just the close quarters? |
These are good points and not frivolous at all. It sounds to me like Walker is in deep jeopardy unless he can point his finger up the chain of command. I would also say that the retaliation case includes the coverup allegations. So that would give the claimant potentially broad access to MCPS internal communications responding to the Washington Post story which could reveal a lot of additional malfeasance or at the very least cause significant reputational harm. Looking at how MCPS handled the Damascus litigation, they will probably try to delay this as much as possible and will likely be successful delaying this for many years and then eventually settle once they’re required to provide discovery and give depositions. There needs to be more oversight and I hope that this will eventually precipitate more mechanisms to ensure that MCPS is held to generally accepted standards of accountability. |
I read the complaint, too - a lot of it was covered in the W.Post, and is documented by eye witnesses and text messages. That this pattern of harassment could go on for so long is a travesty. Based on the evidence we already know exists, this case is going to trial; it won't be thrown out on early motions. Heads have to roll for the change in the documentation that happened in June 2023 to support the promotion. Even if this started with something consensual, as someone upthread has claimed, it clearly changed to unwelcome harassment. "No" and "Stop" have meaning. |
Parents have no idea how stressful teaching is. Other teachers are the only ones who get it. |

Was McKnight the superintendent when this occurred or was it another superintendent’s staff who did this? |
|
She has been the Superintendent since 2021. The entire series of botched investigations, the promotion, and the fraudulent documentation all happened under her watch. |
It was her staff. McKnight was superintendent when the most outrageous events happened. |
While I agree, this is literally every profession. In my years of work in technology, I've had many stresses. I've been responsible for life-critical systems: If systems go down, people literally lose their life within minutes. I've been asked to spend the night in my car to avoid being far away from a system in case it had issues--after traveling 10,000 miles to there. I've had years where I worked 80+ hours every week with no overtime pay and so that my hourly rate was actually below $20 per hour. I slept with phones and pagers in my hand because I got paged for problems every night and could never get more than a couple hours of uninterrupted sleep. I've heard similar complaints from my friends in the medical professions. I'm not saying I'd rather be a teacher. In fact, I would make a terrible teacher, since that just isn't my forte. We have a systemic problem in many industries. |
That's not true. I get that you are on this crusade against her but can you at least try to stick to facts. |
DP. Which part isn't true? |
DP all of it is true, the fact that she has been Superintendent since 2021, the fact that Biedelman sexually harassed staff since then, the fact that those staff filed complaints about him, the fact that those complaints were either ignored or poorly investigated by corrupt people intent on protecting him and the fact that McKnight herself not only promoted him, but also did not put him on leave or inform the BOE when she learned of the WaPo investigation. |
Somebody else was superintendent of MCPS in June 2023? Are you serious? Not even Monifa is making these ridiculous claims that you're making. |
