Letter from teachers' union to MCPS staff re: Class action lawsuit re: sexual harrassment

Anonymous
I hate to say it but Sadly this is feels like the only way to get MCPS and the BOE to change.

This is a good development.

And I agree that MCPS has a lot to answer for regarding student victims of abuse, considering the horrific way they handled the brooming case, and others.

I hope this class-action lawsuit is successful.

It is revolting to me that my tax dollars are paying the salaries of the psychopaths that knowingly protect monsters like Biedelman. And of course, I assume Biedelman himself is still being paid. At least with these lawsuits the tax dollars will also go to compensating his victims.

Here’s a thought - victims who filed formal complaints for sexual harassment should compare their response letters from MCPS. My hypothesis is that despite the perpetrators or the circumstances, the wording will be almost identical. MCPS were routinely ignoring complaints because they assumed no one would compare the outcomes of their “investigations”.

standard union letter.

Nothing standard about this letter, which was extraordinary in its bluntness, righteously so, and talk of class action lawsuits against the school district.

+1 Sure they should sue. I hope the victims get the justice they deserve.

Thank you for posting. Gives new perspective that Dr. McKnight was emailed in 2022 but did nothing.

FYI These tactics to cover sexual harassment by staff also occurred with victims who were students. This included disclosing the complainant, witnesses, and written evidence so victims were an open book for retaliation.

You are sick! No students were sexually harassed you pervert.

Wow, that was painful to read. I’m sorry she experienced that and it makes me angry. I was struck by her comment that DCI violated confidentiality because when I wanted to report harassment I was told that they couldn’t keep confidentiality. It’s part of why I didn’t choose to file a complaint (this was against a different administrator). For a while I wished I had made a report anonymously but now it’s clear that wouldn’t have made a difference.

Seems as though it was an affair gone wrong.

No, it doesn't. It seems like an employee was pressured to have sex with her boss or risk bullying and the threat of demotion. It sounds like extreme manipulation, and she has a solid, solid case.

From the incidents reported it reads as though it was consensual and something went awry.

The link to the case is here: https://montgomeryperspective.com/2023/10/26/sexual-discrimination-lawsuit-filed-against-mcps-beidleman/

Based on this, I don't know how MCPS will be able to get away with saying that they knew nothing.
