| She chose not to get insurance. Everything indicates she has the funds to have done so. She supported candidates who were against the ACA and similar bills. If she is truly indigent, the hospital will help her enroll in Medicaid and the state will put a lien on her property to pay for the care she gets. If she's not poor enough for Medicaid, she will have medical debt like millions of other people. |
| I was talking to my DH this morning about this. Something does not add up. What happened to all of that endorsement money? |

So...you admired Retton but now will not admire her because of what her adult daughter is doing while Retton is laid up in an ICU unable to breathe on her own? Wow. Your "admiration" never had any roots to begin with, I suspect. You seem to conflate the daughter with the mother. And none of us, however much speculation goes on here, can really know why Retton is uninsured nor what her actual financial status is. Reports of net worth etc. mean nothing when it comes to what any person has actually on hand to use. I'm not here to defend Retton or her daughter, I just see a real lack of actual thinking going on, in this thread. |
How much are you paying for just yourself? |
Yeah, she kept speaking about supporting the Karolyi’s, after all the crap about Larry Nasser came out and they knew what he was doing. Does she deserve to die for this? I don’t know. |
DAMN that place is some kind of fugly |
| Her former coach Steve Nunno, who also coached Shannon Miller, donated $500. |
I lost my job and applied to starbucks and several grocery and retail stores and never heard back. the lack of staff you see at stores isnt because people aren't applying, it's because people arent hiring. |
Same deductible here. About 2700./month for family of five. MLR needs to work under the table and get free health care - instead of working, paying taxes, and paying high premiums and deductibles, like some of us schmucks. I know someone that did this for over a decade, though perfectly able, was not willing. Maybe not the best in their field (or even close), but able. Makes me sick how some people work the system, because that is all they know. |
My net worth is a lot less and I would never go without health insurance. I pay $1,220.00 a month for Anthem. |

She is wealthy.
The GoFundMe was a poor choice by her young adult child who has proven to have poor judgment in the past. |
Better than being in ICU with no health insurance and no famous name your daughter can leverage on GoFundMe |
How so? What does this mean? What poor judgment in the past? |
Well, Dems have tried to make changes to it but Republicans only wanted to repeal w/ no replacement plan in place. So, take it up with them. As for the costs, in the USA, insurance is costly. Until people want that to change, it won't. But, people get pissed over some citizens getting things "for free" that they cut off their nose to spite their face. And their insurance def doesn't cover that. |
