Mary Lou Retton has no health insurance

She's been hospitalized with a severe and rare form of pneumonia and her daughter has started a fundraiser to help cover her medical bills.

Very sad, and rather shocking that a world class, world famous athlete would be in such dire financial straights.

Get well, Mary Lou.

I was surprised when I heard that on the news. I also hope she gets better soon and recovers quickly.

Title is a claim without evidence.

That’s stupid. She should have gotten an Obama care plan

Her daughter launched a GoFundMe for her citing that she has no health insurance - I read the story last night and was shocked to see it. She had a great deal of financial success with endorsements following her Olympic success, and years of motivational speaking plus she was married for years and has four kids. Some issues with financial management, obviously. She's also a known conservative so maybe she refused to buy a policy on the ACA exchange out of cut your nose off spite?

If you have any kind of income the cheapest Obama care plan will cost you around $1400 per month.

There's a big donut hole for people with short-term medium paying careers like minor sports, wide earning potential expires long before Medicare.

I'm the 9:28 poster. My Obama care plan (cheapest at $1400 per month) also has a high deductible, I think around $7000 deductible.

The daughter can sign her up for an Obamacare plan to get her treated.

It’s not a claim by OP. That’s exactly what the news was reporting this morning.

Most people would get a job for income and health benefits.
