Perry v Segura

I don't live in Loudoun but my friend who works at NBC actually worked on this story https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/virginia-abortion-rights-could-hinge-on-31st-district-race/3441020/?amp=1
She was appalled how the need editors wanted to make Segura look bad. They purposely filmed her indoors and had her pretend looking something up on a computer while they just literally stuck the camera in his face (he actually did a good job) outside

It's really hard to really trust news anymore and after covid I think we all feel that way. How EXTREME was it that our kids’ lives were completely derailed and everything was closed for way too long based on literally no evidence just speculative. Our kids are so behind on reading and everything else. I get why people are just fed up

You were never going to vote for her to begin with.

Um that is how B roll works. Do you deny he wasn’t living in the district a year ago?

Who cares? If that's all you got, you are in trouble.

And her loss of her TS hasn't even come out yet....

Not in trouble at all.

The abortion messaging is much stronger than the weird "Loudoun is a crime-infested shithole" messaging.

The carpetbagging thing isn't widely known, but that'll probably change in the coming weeks leading up to the election.

You might be right about the local news media, though. While the NBC story was legit and balanced, check out this desperate attempt by Sinclair to boost Segura: https://wjla.com/news/local/virginia-state-senate-candidate-juan-pablo-segura-prioriting-education-school-public-safety-cost-of-living-crime-loudoun-fauquier-county-voting-election

I’m pissed they redistributed Sterling into the district, as opposed to taking more people from Fauquier near Warrenton. Would have made it more favorable for us. Optimistically pessimistic.

Who is “us” and why would is the current configuration less favorable?

Because the district doesn’t make any sense. The majority of the district is rural exurban farmland (Lovettsville, Middleburg, The Plains, Purcellville, Roundhill). It would have made more sense to pair the district with the similar geographically/racially similar Northern Fauquier precincts rather than with Sterling on the Fairfax border, who have no clue or care for the wineries, cow pastures, open greenery, country life that both candidates are advocating for. IMO, Aldie was the furthest east it should be.

You didn’t answer the question: who is “us?”

Was it not completely obvious from the PP's position that the district should be more "racially similar" and should include Fauquier county instead of Sterling, where some black and brown people live?

No. Elaborate, please.

I just watched that new story, and I think it depicted Segura much more favorably. He's out with the people, giving interviews from the streets, while she is indoors with no one else. If the goal was to be biased for Perry, I think NBC failed.

I support gerrymandering but only when it favors my political party.

Perry is another who will refuse to jail violent offenders and just keep releasing them back onto our streets.

Juan Paplo is just a Trump wannabe.

He’s Trump but Mexican.

All of the TV ads for the different Virginia races, including this one, seem to say the exact same thing:

Democratic ad: I am pro-choice, but the Republican candidate will ban abortions.

Republican ad: I will protect you from criminals, but the Democratic candidate will defund the police.

Kind of amazing that there are no other issues that the candidates want to focus on.
