Maybe I am just not seeing them but it seems like the onslaught of ads for Juan Pablo Segura (where he basically uses fear-based messaging to tell Loudoun voters the county is a crime-infested shithole and Russet Perry is responsible and also she murders babies) tailed off but Perry’s are is still going strong, painting Segura as a radical anti-abortion zealot backed by MAGA lunatics.
Does this indicate the smart money has already given up hope of Segura winning the State Senate seat? If that’s the case, what are the implications for the legislature? I am not really familiar with the new district…. Doesn’t it lean D? |
| I asked my dad if I ran for state senate if he’d give me 1 million dollars like Juan Pablo’s daddy did. |
| Two votes for Segura in our household. |
You are watching shows we’re Segura’s ads are not running. They have been popping up on the college football games all day. It’s all get out your vote now for the both of them. |
Four for Perry in ours. Four more for her in the household of my ex-wife. We already voted even. |
I literally have had OSU-Maryland and FSU v VT and have only seen Perry. Same on the news in the last week and the game shows (Wheel and Jeopardy). Used to see more of Segura but not so much in the last three weeks or so |
| I've seen the Segura ad with the burglar. I feel like they could have spent some of that money to test the ad on focus groups. If I didn't already know that he is all in on the culture wars, that would have done it. |
The one he did with Perry at a press conference was really cringe and off-putting. He came by my place and I told him I wasn’t voting for him largely because I was so offended by his advertising. He seriously looked hurt and asked “which one?” And I looked him dead in the eye and said, “All of them.” The mail they send is insane. He looks completely unhinged. I get that they think he’s going to help flip the Senate and crown Youngkin as some kind of player/kingmaker but I see him underperforming Hung Cao. The abortion issue also makes him toast. Just wonder if they’re realizing that and ending the cash spigot to pay for advertising for a lost cause. Is there any polling on the race? |
You did none of that. But you can dream.
|
I absolutely did. He looked wounded or something. It was weird. |
|
OP is right. The amount of money he’s spending on ads per week peaked the week of 9/11. Russet has been spending double-triple the amount per week for the last two weeks.
Juan Pablo’s campaign did reserve some ad time for the next month, but it seems their money is drying up. https://www.vpap.org/political-ads/election-10358/ |
OP here, very interesting. Looks like Perry and allies are focused on GOtV for early voting and Camp Segura is making a push leading up to Election Day. Which I guess is pretty conventional based on how their bases vote. |
Daddy’s money ran out! |
I don’t think that’s the right takeaway. Campaigns need to get their message out months in advance (which Juan Pablo did very well) and then keep up the ads to remind us. Juan Pablo spent all his money early and now has none left. |
And if he isn’t bringing in more, it means the GOP has conceded the race… |
